I don't know what the tests would prove now anyways.. they may not be genius but surely they are smart enough to not be on them right now with all this happening..
Probably so. I didnt realize that he showed up with the doctor a day later. Rocket Fan has a point though. These offers of "test me!!" ring a lil hollow since players have stopped taking it. Didnt Rick Reilly put Sosa on the spot a few years ago by asking him to do a "pop" steriod test??? I believe Sosa refused, even though he had offered to do one previously.
based on watching espn news.. it seems the players are seeming to not have a response or not want to talk today... funny how they all denied it last week and now that this report comes out they don't even want to bother denying it...
now my yankee fan friends have gone back to the stance that.. what does it matter? steroids don't help you
Yup, Reilly had a lab lined up and everything. Sosa went crazy and allegedly stormed off and refused. On the one hand, I can see their point of not wanting to be forced to have to prove themselves time and time again. It's kind of like how I hate that my parents tell me to carry my passport everywhere I go, so I can prove I am a citizen of this country in case police find me suspicious b/c of the color of my skin. They abhor the idea of having to prove their innocence time after time. But of course, if I was innocent of steroid usage, I would WANT to clear my name.
That's silly. number one rule in organized sports, don't gamble on your sport, especially your team. its quite simple.
If Bonds is offiically found guilty, then both he and Rose have ruined the integrity of the sport. I agree, both go in or neither. I vote for neither (if Bonds is found guilty)
Before the last collective bargaining agreement, were there specific rules in Baseball about steroid use.
But they havent proved themselves time and time again. Its like anyone has a record of Sosa or Giambi testing clean every year. Testing just started last season, and for all we know, they might have tested positive. Only MLB knows what players tested positive again and all hell would break loose with the PA if the names got out in the open. Im not a Reilly fan, but if a player is going to spout off and say "test me", then they shouldnt run and hide when someone calls them on their bluff. If Sosa was clean, he had the opportunity to bury Reilly by taking the test and proving that he wasnt on anything.
Nope. The PA felt it was a privacy issue if the players were forced to be tested. They just agreed to it on the last CBA, which started last season.
And in other news, the sun rises in the east. DUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH. The media will jump ALL OVER THIS because they collectively HATE Bonds (and righfully so). Payback's a b****, Barry. Guess you shouldn't have pissed off all those reporters for years and years and years and years.
Oh don't get me wrong. I totally agree with you. I was just trying to play devil's advocate (albeit poorly) and understand their point of view.
I knew you were. In the end, the players dont have much of a point of view. However, like someone mentioned earlier, like Sosa's corked bat, this will probably fade away over time: Player is accused of taking steriod. Player denies accusation. Player's trainer is found to be the head of a steriod ring. Player says he didn't realize his trainer was involved in this sort of thing. Player is found to have accepted steriods from trainer. Player's agent says he didn't know what he received was steriods. It will never end. Unless someone was an eyewitness to seeing Bonds or Giambi shoot up or unless someone can get a hold of a flux capacitor and go back in time and test them, then nothing will ever be proven concretely. Circumstantial evidence is starting to become overwhelming though.
I can't believe they are saying in the article that Bill Romanowski took steroids. There is no way in hell he would stoop so low, Bro is the class of the NFL.
