I don't know why we don't try to sign a guy like Santiago. He looked good against our national team. Invite the guy to camp or something.

battier is the type of player that makes everyone else on the team better. the "ultimate team player" is something that has been lacking on the rockets. he can be our best defender, while at the same time giving us a fair amount of boards and be 2nd on the team in assists. he is legitimate and unselfish to say the least. if he wanted to put up 20 per game he could, but thats the difference between a great player and a good player.

guys end the Battier and where will he play, its all predicated on matchups, we are a team that can transform our look to multiple looks to get a more favorable matchup.

All of this talk about Battier closing out the game is great. However, does anyone have any stats or box score? I was looking for that all morning and could not find it. I would love to see how many points or rebounds he got.

Don't get too excited about the fact that Shane "closed out the game". Coach K is mixing and matching starters and closers for each game. He wants to prevent some of the players thinking they are the starters or "stars" of the team, and to foster teamwork and effort amongst every player.

    Never mind I found it

Looks like Shane didn't do very well this game.

No points and one rebound in 10 minutes.

Duncan's pf days are over. He's strictly a center now. Battier is one of the few guys in the game who can match up against the likes of Marion. He shall have no problem with the quick pf's, guys like Dirk, Marion, etc.

In other words, a better shooting Sura for the frontcourt.

Not to rehash an old subject but if you keep a player like Gay, you force other teams to try to match up with us. The good teams force other teams to match up with them, not the other way around.

These games show that he could possibly play the 4 against most teams, but not all. He can slap the ball down when the 4 turns on him. Battier is very good player nonetheless

I watched the game this morning. USA should have lost the game if it wasn't the stupid ref calling stupid technicals and ticky tacky fouls on Brazilian players. they gave USA like 6 free throws + possesion of the ball in the final 4 minutes....Brazil is a good team.

I don't buy it. SA has been desperately trying to get some 5s to put in there, so TD can play at the 4 as much as possible. Heck, we could have used one of the centers they picked up.
