Interesting comments from D'Antoni and particularly amusing from a coach who's failed miserably in New York. In addition to never having taught ANY form of defense to any of his teams in his coaching career.

Didn't know that scola was sick, now it makes sense why he wasn't playing.

Hill is playing well for a rookie and even better considering he barely played in New York. He's looking much more likely to live up to lottery pick status then not at this point.

I think D'antoni meant to say "I don't play bad @SS rookies. I prefer gimps like Tmac."

The only big on that team better than Hill is Lee.

"Some nights I really don't feel good because I sit so long and tighten up"

TMac finds a way to complain about minutes, I'm so glad that whiny baby is gone forever.

i dont feel too bad for tmac because sometimes his actions indicate he doesnt care, but as someone who's suffered from muscular imbalances due to an injury, which mimic the imbalances caused by scoliosis, i can understand that statement. No matter how much rehab he does he's always going to have issues tightening up after he sits. He should consider laying on his stomach on the sideline like other players have done.

You guys are all wrong. All of yall are fools who know absolutely nothing about basketball.

    D'Antoni is right.

Jordan Hill is not a good rookie. He plays defense and works hard to crash the boards.

    What a waste of energy.

What he should be trying to do is score. He should be jacking up 3s 5 seconds into the shotclock. But he doesn't and he can't. Therefore he is not a good rookie. Not at all.

Al Harrington is an amazing player. One of the greatest PFs of all time. You expect him to play Hill ahead of somebody like Harrington? Harrington does not waste his energy playing defense. Harrington does not waste his energy trying to crash the boards. Harrington is a guy willing to take score and shoot the three. He is a true PF and an amazing PF.

D'Antoni is right. How dare you question a coach who has had multiple 60-win seasons?

You guys mess with D'Antoni again and he is gonna open up a tube of pringles on your asses.

Yeah, he was standing up for his "No rookie" label, not saying anything about Hill at all.

What he means is that he doesn't have anything against rookies, per se, he's just interested in playing the players he thinks gives him the best chance to win. So he's willing to play rookies that he believes are really good and will help his team win right now. And he's less willing to play rookies that he believes does not give him the best chance to win.

That's bs. D'Antoni clearly understood the question and made a stupid, and defensive comment. JVG was notorious for that, and yes the media loved him.

But I'm exhausted by the "blame the media" crap. NY is rough and the Knicks are going down in flames in about 6 months, but if you want to trash someone you have options.

Lee playing the same position is an easy out. "He didn't practice hard" is to the eye of the beholder, so cool. Uh, "He's raw" is true. "On their team he fills a need" would have been true and diplomatic. To characterize Hill is a bad rookie before the game is just idiocy.

But I guess you're right. A basketball coach in NY shouldn't watch what he says to the press. Take up for the boss, stand by your decisions and then blame the media.

I can't wait to see what the media says. I hope Walsh gets credit for drafting Hill in the first place.

Some coaches are like that man. Larry Brown is the worst at that. Him Douche'Antoni, Jeff Van Gundy, and even Phil Jackson, they don't know how to develop young players even though they are great coaches. It seems like if a player was less then 5 years of expericene in the nba, those coaches are too stupid or too impatient to develop a young player. Put it this way, if Van Gundy was still the head coach here, Brooks would still be on the bench in year 3.

When we made the trade I remember people saying that Jordan Hill partied too much in New York.

Maybe New York just wasn't a good place for him to be.

I think Dantoni is a great coach, he has the leadership and mentality to lead New York to a championship. No need to waste money on a top star the New York Knicks are destined for great things with this current roster. No need for Chris Bosh, Eddy Curry is a proven all star center. Tmac makes promises of championship and you know he is good for his word. Extend Dantoni till the 2011 season is over, if he hasn't won anything by then, fire him. Cough*Cough(When are the stipulations to the 2011 and 2012 draft picks again?)Cough*Cough

Then he's bad at evaluating talent I guess.
