if i were morey...i would give up all picks and anything except yao and martin. martin too if he severely lowers the rest of price, but that's unlikely as hornets dont wanna give even MORE $.
Not interested in paying the max to a distributor. If Paul wants to win a ring anywhere he should take a paycut.
If Morey wanted to go all in with the franchise on Paul, he could offer Brooks, Battier, Jeffries, and any combination of Hill, Budinger, and the various picks we have ... and offer to take Stojakovic back as well, and possibly another one of their bloated contracts. Obviously would take some work to get the salaries to match, too ... maybe a third team. I think we could get it done, I just wonder if Les would go for it with the luxury tax we'd be paying for years and not knowing Yao's status yet.
He's signed through 2013 for less than $18 mil a year. sounds like a great deal for the 2nd best Point Guard in the NBA.
Our starting PG, our first (you could argue Lowry) and second options off the bench, and two potentially high picks for a Top 5 PG (note: not best) in the league? NO can keep Paul. Do not want, if we're trading that many pieces. If it was LeBron, that would be a different story.
That's your opinion. Most consider him to be clearly the best on both ends of the floor. And if it was LeBron, the offer would be nowhere close.
Chris Paul can make everyone on the team better. I would love to see him in a Rocket's uniform. I would trade our picks, expirings, and Brooks in a heart beat.
New Orleans would not be interested in taking Aaron Brooks in return. One of the reasons they would trade Paul is because they have a good young point guard in Collinson who gets paid a lot less.
Yep, though Yao will always be an injury risk. AB, Hill, Buddinger with whatever picks or expirings should be enough for CP3, IF CP3 said trade me to Houston. CP3/Lowry Martin/Taylor Ariza/Battier Scola/Andersen Yao/Hayes Gutted the depth, but that's a solid 1-7. Maybe the MLE or #14 pickcould fill in a gap.
Hayes is dependable, but we'd need a backup power forward with some upside and either a backup two or JT would need to improve, as would Andersen
Random Thought: If the Cavaliers were in any way smart about keeping LeBron, they would know that trading for Chris Paul would be the thing to do. Since the Cavs are shopping Mo Williams, and that the Hornets are willing to trade Paul, the two teams should form a package in which the centerpiece of the trade would be Williams and Paul. Jus' sayin'.
Just ran a trade through the trade machine: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2ckkw2g Cavs get Paul and Okafor for Mo Williams and Jamison, obviously good for Cavs as they get a great point guard and could probably lure James to re-sign. However, there is not much upside for the Hornets, as Mo Williams contract is as long as Paul's, however they get a little bit of a break because instead of paying Okafor for five years, they can pay Jamison about the same amount for three. I think Cavs would have to add more incentives like a young player or future draft picks for this to work.
If Philly is shopping the #2 pick to any team willing to take Brand, how about a 3 way trade between Philly, Cleveland and NO? Philly receives: Mo Williams $8.8 M A. Varejao $6.3 M Daniel Green $.457M NO receives: #2 pick (Evan Turner) A. Jamison $11.6M Delonte West $4.2M (mostly non-guaranteed, can be cut to save Shinn $$) Cleveland receives: Chris Paul $13.5 M Emeka Okafor $10.7 M Elton Brand $14.8 M Why each team does the trade: Cleveland takes on gobs of salary, but does so because World Wide Wes has guaranteed LeBron will stay if Cleveland gets CP3. Cleveland can then sign a SG with its MLE. NO dumps a lot of salary, and ends up with a solid backcourt of Collison/Turner. Philly dumps Brand's salary, and gets serviceable players in Mo Williams and Varejao in return.
