If there really is consensus around the league's GMS that we have a bunch of bad contracts, then I don't want to hear anymore about Morey being appointed Headmaster of Hogwart's again.
Well isn't that relative to the value a each GM would have of that player? All we know is Morey looks at NBA players a bit different than other GMs. While we haven't had much success in the playoffs, we still only have a limited history to really determine whether Morey is truly a wizard.
I agree with this and was concerned about its effects as well. But in the end, I think you should value and respect your players, but be honest with them and they will respect you more for it. Everyone knows this Rockets organization is trying win a championship and not just make money. I think our players want to win as well, and understand if they can't get it done, this is their job (which they get fame, social status, perks, and millions of dollars for) and a business (owners get roughly the same and more) and they will find someone who can get the job done. Just like any company you could work for. I think you should value and take care of your players (show loyalty by doing your best to give them what they want when they meet performance goals), but at the same time be real with them that this is a business, and what your goals/expectations are as an organization. Nobody like bosses who say one thing to you or about you then do another, that would be worse I think. Just be sure to be respectful that you treat them/talk about them as human beings (don't publicly broadcast trade talk in their faces all the time) and not stock options.
Not sure I'd jump to the conclusion that Chad Ford's article speaks for the league's GMs. In fact the way he painted over the insured expiring as just another dime a dozen expiring should have clued you in that the article is trash rag material.
getting a superstar (even Melo) without a defensive center is stupid. it's our defense that's letting us down. it's Morey's fault we didn't target a young 5 at the draft. our team is solid enough right now; we just need a 5.
And how is it you know that Morey did not have a young 5 targeted in last years draft? All indications point that he did want a Center in the draft but the ones he targeted were off the board before he drafted.
simple ... the fact that we drafted Patterson at #14 and until the injury to Hayes, we're still unable to work him in significantly into the rotation
the media didn't have as many avenues to disseminate information back then... now janitors can overhear something, tweet about it, and 20 minutes later it's on espn as inside info
