Gortat and Pietrus are both good defensive players. Now they have no backup center and no perimeter defense.

For the Magic, dumping Rashard Lewis for Gilbert makes a lot of sense even with the risks.

I'm not so sure about the trade with Phoenix. If Hedo becomes a clutch player again for them and J-Rich continues to sizzle from long range, then OK.

something tells me stan van is probabaly not too thrilled about losing pietrus and his back-up C for not much defense in return

Dwight Howard pushed them to make the trade. They only matched Gortat's offer so they could use him as a trading chip.

Howard's gonna be able to set records in blocks with the amount of guys who are going to be waltzing into the lane against them.

Could turn out well for them, but then again, it might not. Even though Jason Richardson is having a great year, I wouldn't be suprised if Hedo makes a big impact with his reunion with Dwight.

I don't understand why Washington would do the trade. I'm assuming Rashard's contract ends sooner than Arenas?

Rashard's a better fit for that system than Arenas is once Wall comes back.

Carter was overrated, but then again so is Hedo. He thrived in the role 2 years ago as the huge slow SG that gave Boston fits; that team doesn't exist anymore though. Arenas will be PG/SG and Hedo will be a pure SF. Honestly I hope this opens up more playing time for Redick. Not because it'll make Orlando better; I just wanna see the white boy jacking up threes like he used to in college lol. He's so much less confident in his shot as a pro, it's terrible.

Lewis and Hedo are tweeners with mediocre defense.

Carter and Richardson are similiar defensively, but Carter getting slower at moving his feet. Carter is getting up there in age. He will be 34, next month. Carter's defense will continue get worse as he loses a step.

Gortat wasn't getting much playtime with the Magic in the regular season or the playoffs.

I'm assuming Turk will be in the starting line-up for his point-forward skills they sorely miss. J-Rich is the truest shooting guard so he'll probably be in it as well. It will probably be Arenas off the bench I'm guessing..It would be sort of mesed up if they did that to Nelson..wow what an expensiveeee ass back-up.

If they want Tukgolu they should have signed his ass last year. VC has been garbage for years, Hedo showed he can hit the money shots, and even if someone can make the case for VC>Hedo there is no way VC>Hedo + Lee. It was a dumb trade, but his trade ought give them plenty of fire power.
