It's not terrible, it's just reality. When the NBA shows highlights, you don't see Horace Grant and Bill Cartwright grabbing rebounsa and playing good interior defense, you see Jordan dropping 50 and Pippen dunking on Ewing. I'm not comparing Bush to Jordan but I'm just saying that the guys who do the dirty work don't get much spotlight.
At the end of the day I will sacrifice the spotlight for wins. Ill take that anyday. One of the greatest running backs ever Barry Sanders has more highlights than you can imagine but that damn team couldn't win squat.
Not much to sit here and justify if it is the right pick. Everyone can argue one way or another but until a few years down the road we won't be able to say which was the right pick. But I think Wins justify the picks made in the entire draft. If you factor in the rest of the picks we had we had a very good draft.
According to him, he got so angry about the texans not picking reggie bush that he went to a draft night party at a hotel, got drunk and then got into a fight with somebody about the texans draft and was arrested and spent the rest of the draft in jail.
I'm with you. That's why I hope Mario ends up being a superstar. Do I agree with the pick ...not at all, but that's over and done with. It's just that I don't see the "superstar" quality in Mario that many have suddenly seen since we picked him. The potential is there but I'm guessing half of the people arguing for him hadn't even heard of him before the combine.
That's crazy. I thought everyone in Houston was pissed about the pick so I wonder who he could have got into a fight with. He would be out of jail by now for sure
Sorry, man. That post really wasn't directed at you even though I quoted you. I just get tired of some people declaring Mario a bust before he's even played a single regular season game. I'm very defensive about it....as you may have guessed.
In all fairness, TO doesn't even step on the practice field nor touch the ball. Yet, he still gets more spotlight than any player in the entire league including Bush. ESPN always does these polls about TO saying we'd rather hear about him than Parcells or whomever. Well, if nobody talked about him, then we wouldn't have to listen to/about him. I know Dallas is flloded reporters because of him. But i doubt your average Jow Shmoe is sending ESPN love letters asking about him.
Denver is a Super Bowl contender. You can't start a rookie when the incumbent is decent. I dislike Jake Plummer a LOT, but Cutler can't start this season unless Plummer craters. If the Broncos didn't have such high asperations this year, Cutler might have a chance. Besides, this is just preseason. If teams start throwing out their full defensive schemes, Cutler wouldn't look as good.
Believe me... even ESPN is starting to feel how played out that story is... but its STILL more understandable than hyping up Bush's non-stellar performance. First of all, TO has a history of drama that is foreign to the NFL... despite the fact that he still PRODUCES whenever he touches the field. This has followed him since his early days at San Fransisco... he just finally went to a team high-profile enough (the Eagles), who he happened to help lead to a Super Bowl, while playing at an MVP level on a gimpy leg in that game. He also happens to now be playing for the most recognizable franchise in all of football. If TO was on the Texans, I doubt he gets close to this much press... its a combo of TO's personality, with the egos of Parcells/Jerry Jones along with the fact that its the Dallas ****in Cowboys.
I don't have an issue with you. I just want the media to stop slobbing Bush when it isn't merited. I know it won't happen, but I can still complain about it.
That's very true. I saw MJ highlights when he was balling (i.e. dropping 50) or doing something exciting (i.e. a nice dunk). I didn't see too many MJ highlights when he played like crap, and if I did it would usually say that he had an off night or something. Bush's 2nd carry was an exciting 40 yard run, so I can see why you would want to show that. However, after the last Saints preseason game I watched ESPN break down a 9 yard run, which involved ONE CUT, for 5 minutes. That makes no sense.........
Please explain how we could have done that since the Saints would have taken him had Bush been taken first.
That's the thing...1/2 of these guys don't even know what they're talking about. Like you said, the Saints were going to take Mario if Bush was off the boards. Also, the Texans also said many times that teams weren't that interested in moving up to the #1, and as the draft turned out, nobody moved traded out or into the Top 10.
