From the Texans standpoint, probably not a whole lot. They kept saying that they were seriously considering Mario, it's just none of us (including myself) believed them, almost everyone thought it was just a ploy to gain leverage in Bush talks.

It's a perfect case of nothing is done until it is done, I remember a lot of Bush-supporters (mainly VY-haters) were gloating quite a bit when this video and other articles came out. The Texans insisted that nothing was set but they proved everyone wrong.

I know it's only preseason, but I think the answer to this is obvious. You can have a great running game with any runningback in Kubiak's system. There are two positions that Denver doesn't draft high, and that's OL and RB.

I'm watching halftime of the Car-Mia preseason game (on Fox, not ESPN). Some guy is recapping preseason and talked about each high profile rookie. He dissed every other rookie but was quick to point out that Bush was stellar from his 2nd run on, and that he is averaging 7 yards a carry (based on that one long run).

Why do so many people feal the need to talk trash about Bush on this board? Who cares if ESPN and everyone else hang on his every play it's no different from a bunch of posters on a message board looking to point out the negatives in his game. You are essentially doing the same thing as ESPN.

Truth be told, if you were happy with the Williams pick you wouldn't even be discussing Reggie to this degree. Morency and Lundy have looked exceptional and the track record of the running scheme speaks for itself but facts are facts. Bush has showed his big play ability, Cutler looks like a very efficient QB, VY had a good second game and Leinart played outstanding cnsidering his holdout. Mario hasn't done much of anything. He has tons of potential but so do most of the top 10 picks in the draft. 1 tackle, 1 pass defended and an assist in 2 games. Can he be a great player.........absolutely , but if you're going to take shots at Bush then you may as well say Mario sucks (because he has)

I dont have cable now. WOW I didnt know the coverage was so extensive on 4 carries for 7 yards  And focusing on his plant foot Lol. That's a bit much.

Lets not act like he's not a player to watch at all though. They're gonna key in on that one player who can generate excitement, especially on the offensive end. Like how they followed Dante Hall couple seasons ago when he was doing his thing. I'm sure Indy when they got Edgerrin was upset that they kept following Ricky Williams every move years ago (in New Orleans ironically) when he got in the league. Nothing wrong with picking him to win Offensive ROY either, why not? Mario might can win Defensive ROY...speculation before it happens is part of the fun

Yeah, you're right. A multi-national television network with three stations, contracts with MLB, NFL, and NBA, and essentially the leader in the sports network industry is just the same as an internet message board.

Explain to me how this makes sense? I'm very happy with the pick and am sick and tired of hearing the media call it a huge mistake before one real snap has been made. I'm even more sick and tired of hearing people say no matter what Williams does, this move the wrong one. Those people I like to call idiots.

Bush has had one good run on a busted play. He has done squat since. Both Lundy and Morency have looked consistently better than Bush has. Mario's game against St. Louis was a lot better than Bush's game against Dallas. Of course, this all means absolutely nothing since it's preseason.

Why don't you simply go find a Saints board if it hurts your feelings to read criticisms of your boy Bush? It's an exercise in absurdity to think a board full of Texans fans won't b**** about people not paying attention to the #1 pick and calling him a bust before the season starts.

Yeah, you didn't hear? He could have 73 sacks next season and the Texans still made a mistake on draft day. Cause, you know, Bush had a 44 yard run on a busted play in the preseason.

:D see, i missed that memo.

as i've said before..all this silliness only further draws me to the Texans. which i welcome! that and the fact i'm concerned that if i grow old and unable to take care of myself, my son won't take care of me if i spend these years not rooting like a freak for the texans.

yeah, me too!!!!! i didn't know you caught that post. yeah, it was so funny. they were showing that Mario video...and then something about VY in preseason when he pulled that out. "dad, do you think Mario is gonna crack VY this year?" i laughed out loud.

of course, he'll still be sporting his VY Longhorns jersey. he told me the other night i didn't have to worry about paying for him to go to college because he was gonna "get to go to Texas for free" because of baseball and school. "i'm really good at math, dad." we've never even talked about paying for college! he's freaking 6!!! i have no idea where that came from.

for the folks hating on Williams, what did you expect him to do in his limited play so far? cause a fumble, recover it, and run it into the endzone? or maybe drop back in pass coverage, intercept the ball and juke his way to a touchdown. he hasn't even played a full game's worth of time in 2 preseason games. do you realize a GREAT defensive linemen would average ONE sack a game? ONE! throughout the course of the game, his pressure will affect the opposing quarterback but alot of it won't show up in the stats column.

Dwight Freeney, who Indy gave a huge contract to, only had 11 sacks last year. does that sound like someone who sucks. that's over a course of 16 games. you guys just don't realize football is played on both sides of the line. all you see is the offensive highlights.

Yeah, but what about his plant foot? Huh? What about his plant foot? I don't see ESPN talking about HIS plant foot.

He sucks. We should have done more extensive scouting on his plant foot. We will regret not doing that.

    I HATE THE TEXANS 4-EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

Reggie Bush's plant foot >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>....>>>>>>>>Mario Williams plant foot

My point was clear and apparently you missed it. I didn't come in here and hype up Bush. In fact I did the exact opposite. I asked why people were still even talking about him on this board. It's llike when I see the name Steve Francis brought up time and time again. For what? At least Steve used to play here though.

Who's saying no matter what Williams does it was the wrong move? Message board posters? A couple of sports analysts? In fact, for the most part a lot of the media has come around in saying it was a good pick for the Texans.

You're right, Morency and Lundy have looked better then Bush (although I basically said the same thing but you missed it trying to make me out be be this huge pro Bush/Mario hater). All I said was Bush showed his big play ability(which he did in his first game). I also gave credit to VY in his second game , Leinart and Cutler as well. Since it fits your argument, you only chose to focus on the Bush comment.

Why would I go to a Saints board when I'm a Texan fan? My point was why are people even talking about Bush here? I could see VY since he's from UT but other then that one would think people would have moved on. I haven't heard people call Williams a bust. He got his ESPN ighlights for his pass deflection and his tackle. Quit crying about Reggie's press. It doesn't effect our team at all. I myself said he had a lot of potential but yet you still found the need to attack my post. Let's be honest here, Mario hasn't showed much except "potential" so far. We're only two games into preseason and that'sfine. What press do you want him to get. He hasn't done anything yet. Learn to live with that and watch him develop (which he hopefully does) into a great pass rusher for us. In the mean time, try spend less time worrying about players that aren't on our team.
