You have Leinart and Bush. Who is the third Heisman winner that we passed on? Surely you are not giving VY a Heisman just because...

OH MY BAD, doesn't matter, award or no award, I was just putting a label on them, they all would have been better picks than Mario.

So your telling me Bush has a good about a 80% chance to be a bust, LOL.

None of those guys dominated like Bush did.

Dude, you're a hair's breadth from being put on my ignore list, and I currently have ZERO people on it at the moment. It's people like you that make me lean towards wanting Reggie Bush to fail. (And really, that's totally unfair to Reggie Bush.)

And oh, BTW: Ron Dayne is the NCAA career rushing leader with 6,397 yards. He's also #4 on the list for rushing TDs with 63. At freaking Wisconsin, no less. Dominant much?

None of them did....except for....well, ALL of them. Last time I checked, you don't win the Heisman Trophy unless you've had a pretty good year. One might even say a dominant year.

MiniMing, do you care to take my bet? I'll bet the Texans:

    1. Gain more yardage on the ground than the Saints do this year

    2. Win more games than the Saints do this year

I love how quickly people here decide trades or draft selections are "horrible" without watching those players (Rudy Gay, Reggie Bush, Mario Williams) play for a single second in a real professional game.

You said "pretty good", Bush was on another level, he was pure domination, nothing like the past Heisman winnners.

I don't know the numbers, but look at his all-purpose yards, I know it's a ridiculous number.

And that's ok, I don't gamble.. we'll see how it turns out this year, but I'd take a Brees/Mcallister/Bush/Horn over what we have anyday.

I was actually being sarcastic by saying "pretty good"...

Bush had a great year, but he didn't carry his team like almost every other Heisman Trophy winner did. Hell, he wasn't even the only Heisman winner on his own team.

No offense, but how old are you? Are you old enough to remember guys like Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson, Tim Brown, or Herschel Walker? You want to tell me those guys didn't dominate like Bush did?

I also love how one of his points is that it is possible for the Texans to have drafted a DE in a later round and developed them...but somehow it is impossible to draft a later RB and develop them...like say, Wali Lundy, who has about as many yards as Bush in 2 preseason games?

It's much more common to get a dominant RB in the later rounds than it is a DE. There's a reason RBs are not commonly taken that high. You can argue that Bush will be different, but all you have to go on that is what you have seen of his college career and two preseason games (one of which sucked). Your arguments are weak and tired.

PS. And believe it or not, the majority of the people in here complaining about the Mario criticism and the Bush hype are not just reading the Chronicle and the local news...they are actually WATCHING THE GAMES. Novel concept, no?

*sigh* lol, I can't argue with a bunch of homers, we'll see how the season goes for us, Reggie and the Saints, and Vince with the Titans, and I'll go from there, I won't base it on 2 preseason games or the whole preseason.

But that's my opinion, and I still believe the Texans made a huge mistake.

So we'll all talk at the end of another boring no excitement losing season.

btw miniwang, I just saw on sportscenter tonight that both Mike Golic and Mark Schlereth predicted that mario will have more sacks than reggie will have TDs. no f'in lie, watch SC or their NFL Live show the next couple days to see if they replay it if you don't believe me

now personally I don't even know if I believe that to be true, but it just adds some national perspective and opinion to it. those two certainly aren't Texans homers, that's for damn sure

Wait, you make this explosive diarrhea of a post...

... and yet, somehow, the "homers" are the problem?

How so? I'm sure someone will be able to match the 1,000 yards he ran once during the 3 years he was at USC. I'm someone will match the # of TDs he had last season, oh wait, he didn't even have the most TDs on his own team.

Bush was a great player, no one can deny that, but its comments like "greatest player ever" and "college career that will never be matched" that are severaly overhyping Bush, and its not his fault at all. He was a human highlight film, but in no way was he "pure domination."

Actually...everyone is not sensitive, we just think making really bold comments w/o much substance behind it isn't all that smart.

BTW, just because some of us don't think Bush is a god doesn't necessarily mean we're all homer Texan fans. A lot of us actually wanted Bush or VY much more than Mario. I am a huge VY fan and love watching Bush play, but I also understand that Bush doesn't fit Kubiak's system and I'm glad we didn't just go with the "sexy" pick.
