I don't think many of you watched the game at all. Dallas controlled the game from the start and NO barely had any time of possesion in the first quarter. The gave Deuce the start and then flip flopped with Bush. Niether could get in a rythm and there were no holes at all. It looks like to be great, Bush will have to run like Barry and not Emmitt.

True...but none of that was mentioned when Leinart play against the 2nd and 3rd teams. But most of all, praising Bush for 7 yards rushing and pointing out that VY threw an interception that was overturned is a good example of the Bush hype ESPN is throwing out.

I'm not in town right now but I read that NFL Live spent 5 minutes analyzing the 7 yards Bush rushed for after they showed each of his plays.

gucci... I'm just saying it SHOULD be pointed out about all the players that have big games against 2nd and 3rd teams. I looked at Leinart's stats and saw his highlights, but didn't listen to them talk about him much..... what did most of the "experts" say about his first game?

I wonder how long it'll take him to catch up from missing quite a bit of training camp time...

Because that matters in the NFL.

I do think that in the case of VY ... playing against the backup defenses is a bigger deal because he played until the END of the game... and really did get a ton of his yards really late.... (I counted 94 of his 125 yards being in the 4th quarter.... as well as his TD). His stats before the 4th quarter were pretty bad...

Following the game, didn't look good until the 4th when he started getting yards... so it is reasonable to comment about the defenses he was playing against.

I don't think Leinart played until the very end of the game, but it would be reasonble to think he'd have gotten some yards if he did too..

6:45 PM Last Night, I'm getting hungry and I just might have enough time to run to the local fast food joint and grab a burger and get back in time for kickoff. With any other team playing it's what I would do, not last night though, I set the DVR before leaving the house because I wanted to see Reggie Bush in action and didn't want to miss a bit of it. There probably isn't another player in the league I would do this for.

That is what RB brings to every football fan no matter if you are a Saints fan or not, you want need have to watch him.

That's it...I know that I was the last person in the country that didn't hate him, and I finally have a reason to...

I'm just saying.. if a player plays in like half of quarter 2, all of 3, and all of 4 and gets 94 of 125 yards in quarter 4 . .it is very reasonable to point out when he got his yards (what defense, etc).. but like I said.. it should be pointed out for any player..

But the guy is going to have to put up the same type of numbers that he did in college (or Barry Sanders-type NFL numbers) to warrant that same interest each and every time... tell me if you're still doing this in late Novemeber.

That is what the NFL brings to every football fan no matter what... novelty is truly something that gets exposed after 3-4 weeks of "okay" performances.

This isn't the NBA, MLB, or college where a star player can produce virtually every game he plays in... if Reggie can live up to the expectations/hype that he can have an amazing game every single game, he will be the greatest player to ever live. I'm going to wait till I see him play at least one regular season NFL game before I start buying into that sort of hype.

I should say I don't know the Broncos depth chart, but it is reasonable to think they don't play first stringers in the 4th quarters of preseason games. I'll have to trust what ESPN, etc say about what string they were playing (but sadly I didn't hear the convo so not sure). I wasn't watching the game, was just watching the stats as they went.

Did ESPN say anything about Mario Williams? Did he get anywhere near the time Reggie did?

No way... even though he improved immensely in his second game. But, get used to it. If the team wanted hype, they would have drafted Reggie... don't expect anything of note to be said about Mario until he records at least a 2-sack game.

gucci.. I agree, I wouldn't make a big deal out of most interceptions that were negated by a penalty...... unless it was just a really horrible pass and he was bailed out by a ball call.. or it was a really horrible pass and the penalty was far away from the play (then I could see pointing it out to show that the player needs to improve still).
