There would be no problem if McGrady said something like, "Of course I'd love to prove that I can start, but I'm completely fine with whatever role that the Bulls want me to take on. I just want to win." I think it's the whole "Without Boozer and myself, they're a .500 team" attitude that scares off teams. And sadly, it will probably keep the Bulls from signing him. By comparison, here's what Brad Miller said after signing with the Rockets: I think this is the attitude that teams want from McGrady at this point.
I understand what you're saying but Brad Miller was never the player T-Mac was...and also T-Mac is like 5 years younger.
I think a lot of people are overreaching on their analysis of McGrady's character outside of basketball. There is clearly a gap between his estimate of his own abilities and reality right now, but has he really demonstrated that he has serious personal problems outside of a bit of an ego? His charity work on behalf of the Sudan should surely speak to his character as much as his failings as a teammate, or not advancing in the playoffs, right? If being a bit delusional meant that doom was on the horizon, wouldn't this BBS be in serious trouble? It's shame McGrady has declined so quickly, but better players than him had injuries suddenly destroy their career.
True, but at this point in his career, McGrady's role with a team would have to start closer to Miller's than to T-Mac's of three, four seasons ago. Talking of deposing Luol Deng in the starting lineup is not what Chicago wants to hear, IMO.
I'm starting to think that there is no way you are a real poster. You must be DD or someone posting creating a fake account stirring bs to get a rise out of everyone.
Dude GTFO. We don't want you or your hero. No he's real. He's just the village idiot that has a vendetta against Morey for trading McGrady and with Martin for whatever reason. He also doesn't seem to keep his word.
He doesn't like Martin because he is more or less McGrady's replacement. When he made the bet with me I said even if I lost I would reregister. Apparently he thinks this means the bet didn't mean anything. The difference between me and him is that I am a real fan while he nothing but a McGrady lover.
I figured he'd probably end up starting at the 2, iEven 1/4 mac is about as good as what they have now.
Unless McGrady somehow returns to 2007 form, Ronnie Brewer is a better choice for the starting 2 spot. Brewer also signed with Chicago over other teams because they were willing to let him start. OTOH the Bulls could use help at the backup wings, with only Kyle Korver and second-year player James Johnson there. McGrady could earn some playing time if he were to embrace a bench role.
Don't worry about Brewer... TMac could start the season starting... but we know how it would end. And this is coming from someone with no ill will against Tmac.
