He needs to join Bonzi Wells in China. Then, we can see 2 former Rockets with a ring, even if it's from China.
Iverson could have gotten signed if he was willing to be a bench player. He got many, many chances before people finally lost interest in him. Remember - McGrady's stated goal (as of now) is not simply to get a contract. It's to get a contract and start. If that doesn't work, he can choose whether he wants to continue that route or accept being a bench player. For Iverson, he wasn't willing to accept that, so's retired or continues to wait or whatever. For McGrady, we'll see.
Hmmm, yeah, even as a Tmac fanboy that was over the top. I don't think he was saying 30 winning percentage though. I think he meant 30 points better. As in they'll score 30 points higher. LOL!
According to NBA.com: 2009-10 Statistics PPG8.2 RPG3.10 APG3.3 EFF+ 8.77 Born: May 24, 1979 Height: 6-8 / 2.03 Weight: 223 lbs. / 101.2 kg. College: Mount Zion Christian Academy (NC) Years Pro: 13 So you are correct. There's an extra year for Mac to get right!
remember the outrage 2-3 years ago rockets fans had when t-mac said he'd retire after his contract ended? now everyone is begging him to retire LOL
I cannot hold back my laughter...I'm not usually a Tmac hater but man...with some of those comments it's obvious he's delusional beyond help. If they do bring him in and bench him, he will not be happy about it...because in his mind he's still a allstar player. Funny how he thinks him and Boozer are big additions to the team...no Tmac...no...Boozer had numerous teams willing to sign him...Friggin Carlos Boozer. You are below him now and now the big question is who will sign first? Iverson, Shaq, or Tmac?
For some reason you're under the impression that McGrady has a ton of options. There are only a couple of teams interested in him even being a bench player. No one wants him to be a starter. There's no "if that doesn't work". It's "come off the bench or we're not interested". Now it looks like the Bulls have already moved on, in favor of guys like Eddie House, Keith Bogans, and Roger Mason. So McGrady is now valued at the level of those guys, along with Rasual Butler. The difference is those guys know their value and McGrady refuses to accept his. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=5415275 The funny thing is, the reason they're moving on is due to the interview they had with him more than anything else. So he potentially shot himself in the foot by talking about being a starter.
mcgrady has the ego of jordan but yet cant and wont accomplish anything. wouldn't be suprised to see him retire after a miserable season riding the pine and crying over his playing time.
Shaq and McGrady should go play in Washington - I'm sure they'd take them on vet minimum deals. Sadly, I don't think there are many options beyond that. No one's that interested in signing a minimal bench contributor with a massive All-NBA ego. Bad mix that never goes well in the locker room.
A team might sign him, if he'll just STFU, and let his agent and PR team do the talking. Some things will never change...
There's nothing wrong with having enough competitive fire to want to win a starting job. That's a good thing. What McGrady still doesn't get is that talking about it the way he does is a bad thing. He comes off as arrogant and disruptive. That's not what any team's looking for.
McGrady is a certifiable nut job, he doesn't understand because he has never been forced to deal with reality. He was annointed "The Man" before he grew up, he is still a mental midget trying to understand why people are turning on him. Seriously, this has all the makings of something that will end very badly for him. I suspect Steve Francis is going through a very similar situation right now....where you go from being adored to ignored. DD
i do have to agree mcgrady may be having a tough time with the fact that he's no longer the man. but people have to understand that may take a while for that to get to his head. maybe he thinks the microfracture surgery takes a longer time to heal and he thinks the timeline is still in his favor? i don't know. but the guy DID ADMIT he wants to prove he's a starter. he never said he wants to prove he's a superstar or a franchise player again. all he's saying is if a team (the bulls in this case) was to sign him, he wants to PROVE IN TRAINING CAMP that he's starting material. nothing wrong with that. people like to destroy mcgrady every chance they get. he says some dumb things, but it's not like he's a bad person or anything. reading about mcgrady on this board makes me think he's like a cancer or a terrible person. it's a reason i try to avoid mcgrady threads b/c people just go crazy over EVERY DAMN THING the guy says.
