The Lakers simply dont have that option as Kobe is able to opt out of his contract next year. Either way, they HAVE to trade him if he wants to be traded. They can sit now, but teams will low ball the Lakers later.
Then lose kobe for nothing and chalk it up to cap space rather than take on contracts of players you don't want. I would much rather lose Kobe for nothing rather than assume Ben Wallace's deal if they're not gettin anything useful with it (Deng). Also, I have a problem with Kobe's interpretation of the no-trade clause. If a player doesn't want to be traded to a certain city or team, that's fine, but as far as dictating who he gets traded for - that seems beyond the conception of a no-trade clause to me, though it would be hard to articulate a bright line rule for this.
I doubt Buss WILLINGLY gave him the No Trade Clause. As for KG, he's a class act as apposed to Kobe's classless act. KG wants 1.the team to improve 2.management to add better players and 3.to win just like Kobe. However he doesn't act like an a$$holic imbecolic spoiled little rich kid like Kobe does IMHO.
i agree 100%. the lakers have to trade kobe, but he won't let them get anything good in return. If I were GM I'd demand ending contracts, young players, and picks. start with a S&T of PJ brown to a large one year contract. add ben gordon, sefolosha, and 3 picks. doesn't seem like much at all for now, but 3 years in a row of having 2 first round picks, plus the inside/outside game of bynum and gordon to develop. they would be looking good. of course, i would never trade kobe. i'd rather move bynum for an all-star who can help kobe out. then at the deadline move kwame's ending $9M for another good player.
Kobe is the most selfish player on and off the court. By demanding a trade to the public, then when the team tries try landing some guys, he whines some more. Only way he will be moved is if the Lakers get completly screwed in a deal.
If Kobe ends up staying with the Laker and then opting out in 2009, exactly which Power teams does he expect to have salary cap space to give him a rich contract and also still have enough quality players?
Well, Turiaf acted like an idiot everytime he did anything remotely positive on the court, so yeah. At least he gave us a full night of heart jokes.
Kobe is so smart. He does not get Jason Kidd last year so he gets pissed and demands a trade. He will vetoed any trade that the Lakers will get the best players. It's like a you screw me and I will screw you type thing. All of this would have been avoided if the Lakers traded Bynum for Jason Kidd last season. Kudos to Kobe.
Yep Kudos for the guy who forced Shaq and Phil Jackson out of LA. Kudos to a guy who whines on the court more than Tim Duncan. Kudos to a guy who is more of a distraction than has talent. Kudos to a guy who cheats on his wife. Kudos to a guy who puts himself before the team. If a team thinks Bynum has the potential to be a great why trade him? Kobe did this to himself, I hope he gets stuck with the Lakers.
I dont believe Kobe forced Shaq out of LA. Kobe probably made Phil leave but why did Phil come back? Do you think Bynum has potential to be a great center in LA? Kobe cheating on his wife has nothing to do with his decisions on the basketball court.
They should sit him until they... I mean he... finds a suitable trade. I heard someone say that they should send him a link to one of those trade machine things. Anyway... I would look to Phoenix as the third team... They could get Ben Wallace and a young guy like Thabo or Jameson Curry or Chris Duhon and send away always disgruntled Marion to LA. LA would then get Marion and maybe Gordon or Hinrich and send Kobe to CHI.
Listening to Magic Johnson who is part of the Laker's organization during the game on Tuesday it was obvious that Kobe forced Shaq out of LA.
shaq was traded for odom and butler, hardly spare parts. not the most efficient players in the world, but at the time Wade was just a rookie. Odom led that Heat team in scoring and rebounding, and almost had as many assists per game as Wade did. Butler, even as a throw-in, was still only 2 years into his career with some serious upside potential. he has gone on to be a pretty good player for Washington. shockingly (sarcasm), Caron just didn't work with Kobe and he was traded for Kwame (definitely blame that trade on mgmt, though everything is done with Kobe in mind) and Lamar has had a love/hate relationship with the team. shocking, I say.
Bulls Trade: Wallace, Thabo, Gordon Bulls Get: Kobe Suns Trade: Marion Suns Get: Wallace, Thabo Lakers Trade: Kobe Lakers Get: Marion, Gordon This isn't a bad trade all around. Don't know if it works salary wise. I still don't think the Bulls have enough to win the championship, but maybe enough to get there.
Let's take a closer look at this. Kobe = Kobe L.Deng > Odom T.Thomas = Kwame Noah < Bynum Hinrich >> Fisher Bulls bench = Lakers bench Thus, the Bulls would be slightly better than the current Lakers. But the Bulls play in the east.
Tyrus Thomas is not = to kwame...kwame is a 4 or 5 year vet who has not and will never get it. Tyrus is still moldable and has a rookie contract. Fisher is an underrated leader. I agree with everything else
