Yao's 34 points, 14 boards help Rockets rout Shaq, Heat
Yao Ming easily won his matchup with Shaquille O'Neal, finishing with 34 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Houston Rockets to their fourth straight victory, 94-72 over the Houston Rockets.

I miss Marv doing NBA on NBC.

He might be kinky but he always gave Yao love.

Was Yao even in the league when the NBA was still on NBC?

LOL ... guys, you need to check this out. The hightlight video from ESPN.com *Sports Center* (snicker) showed:

    - Yao falls down after "boxed" out by Shaq
    - Shaq's only assist in the game and a 3 pointer by Jason Kapono
    - the silly "can I write a check" quip
    - at the end of clip, "Houston ... they went 4 straight after starting the season 0-2" [0-2? WFT? why is this moron still employed by ESPN?]

The 0-2 part isn't that big of a mistake, until you stop and realize that it's impossible to start 0-2 and get to 5-2 without winning FIVE in a row.

ridiculous. almost as bad as foxsports.com, if you go and see any rocket highlight, it still shows the old rockets logo, with the cartoon rockets. how long has it been and they cant change it?

I think it's more likely due to the fact that the Rockets beat his Knicks team in the NBA Finals.

Nah, probably just the JVG thing...

Can we just all agree that ESPN sucks hardcore? Basketball, football, baseball, any telecast they touch turns to crap. Look at what they did to monday night football this year! Their playoff baseball telecasts are run by CHRIS BERMAN. And we all know how bad the basketball telecasts are.

ESPN's main analysts for the NBA are Greg Anthony and Tim Legler, when GA and TL start talking about what teams need to do to win championships, I snicker; where is the credibility here? Hey Tim, I'll listen to you talk about standing behind the 3 point line the whole game and hoping that some of your loser Bullets teammates notice you. Greg, I'll listen to you talk about walking it up the floor and throwing it to Ewing every trip down. But the only thing you 2 losers know about winning is how to regularly bend over for Michael Jordan. Oh sorry Tim, I forgot you don't even know how to make the playoffs.

ESPN comes into every game with a storyline. If the game doesn't fit their theme, they tend to stretch reality so that they can stick to their prescripted swill.

When they finally do come around, they're usually just hyperbolic in the other direction. That's why I enjoy Bill Walton so much - he does the exact same thing, except he's being deliberately amusing about it.

LOL ... ESPN's coverage of NBA is very much like NBC does on Olympics.

Damn, I was going to start a thread about this but I guess it's too late.

Yeah, Greg Anthony sucks... he is officially my most hated commentator.

My favorite part was when Greg Anthony had to reign in the praise being heaped on the Rockets to point out that the Heat were not going to win scoring 28 points in the second half. :D
