I think Barry is only a backup plan if Manu leaves for Denver. There just isnt any time for Barry on that team with Manu/Parker as the starters. It doesnt make sense for Barry. Whereas here in Houston Barry could be a starter.

I think SA COULD be a serious option for Barry though if Manu goes to Denver. So we have to watch that.

Given how watered down this FA class is, Ginobili's market value is a ridiculous $9 million/yr. Spurs would be wise to pass on that kind of deal.

    This is GOOD!!!!

Let the Spurs waste their money on signing Barry for over 4 years. The money's been burning a pocket with the Spurs and, like Dallas, they are scrambling to stay competitive whereas the Rox are pulling all the right strings. The LAST thing we want to do is to take on a bloated contract that locks us in with no maneuverability these next couple of years.

It says that they might have to let Hedo go if they sign Barry. We should pick Hedo up with the TE and sign Fisher with the MLE.

Hedo is an excellent shooter and has good size too.

    Fisher-Lue
    TMac-Jackson
    Hedo-Nachbar
    Howard-MoT
    Yao-FA (Skinner?)

Hopefully our offer was a feint. If we can focus attention on barry, we could get fisher for a lil cheaper.

Because his defense is terrible and he isn't clutch in the playoffs. If the Spurs are dumping him because he didnt play well, why do the Rockets have an interest in him?

Perhaps a year or so ago I would have thought there would be an interest. But now my feelings for Hedo are way low. His play for SA really opened my eyes. He was much better in the Kings offense.

This could be a good development. Let the others bid Barry's contract to the sky.

Hey let's wait a year or two and get Mobley or some other reasonably priced player back for 1/2 of what Barry is asking.

    Who's no. 8?

Why does Barry's deficiency on defense get overlooked while Turkoglu's is supposedly a deal-breaker?

I'm not saying that we should get either, I just want to understand the reasoning behind pro-barryism.

Hell, for that matter, why not Fred Hoiberg? He's this year's piatkowski, and he'd probably come cheap, cheaper than barry at least. Does anybody think paying Brent Barry 6 million dollars in 2007 will be good value?

Because we have Tmac and JJ at the wing positions. We need a PG. It is easier to overlook Barry's deficiencies on defense because of what he brings to the table offensively. And not just in shooting, but in ball movement, running the break etc. I think the idea is to mask Barry's lack of defense with our overall TEAM defense.

I suppose if we had a solid PG and we didnt have JJ we might look into Hedo. However, unlike Barry, Hedo doesnt bring much more to the table other than shooting.

Ideally though, I feel like Turkoglu is a better come of the bench type guy like he was in Sacramento as a scorer off the bench.
