It's a lot more complicated than playing in a city for 41 nights in a season. Where will Bosh raise his family? Where does he want his kids to go to school? Would he want to purchase a house in Cleveland? Is that where he wants to spend his off days, days when he's not traveling with the team?
At this point though, I think Beasley is all hype, and no substance. He's had ample time to prove that he's going to be motivated enough to be an elite player in this league, and he hasn't shown one bit of that. If I'm Colangelo, I'm not doing Bosh the favor of sending him to his desired place just to take back a 50/50 case. I want a sure-fire thing.....Jordan Hill has shown more potential in his limited time on the Rockets than Beasley has in his entire career. And let's not forget that Toronto still has to think about their fans. What package would be easier to sell to your fanbase? Beasley, the first round pick that was yours to begin with, and a TE, or a package of Hill, Battier, Ariza, and the NY picks? I think it's a no-brainer.
Absolutely..there's more to it than I said. But he's going to be spending the bulk of the school year in Cleveland if kids are a concern.
I know Beasley isn't the greatest, but is a package revolving around him, some draft picks and a huge TE that bad?
i thought Colangelo already came out and said he has no interest in Beasley....or was that a Bucher special report?
As long as we can come up with an offer that Toronto will accept, it doesn't matter what NJ offers if Bosh chooses Houston. I'm positive that Toronto already has the framework on deals with all of these teams, and are just waiting on Bosh's decision to negotiate more.
Agreed. I'm shocked folks are suprised someone doesn't want to play in Cleveland. Do I need to refer you to Noah and the Cavs/Bulls series? I can understand someone saying "pay me the most to play with LeBron and I'll play anywhere"....yes I get that. But it's not completely off the radar for a guy to not want to go to Cleveland. They haven't exactly signed marquee free agents, right? Cleveland sucks....
Ya that was reported a while back. It's also common knowledge he has no interest in Deng either. This was posted a few minutes ago..
Make up your mind! You just went out of your way to (understandably) make fun of Cleveland, yet now Bosh "isn't worth having and is another McGrady" (my words) because he doesn't want to play there? I'm sure it has nothing to do with being in Cleveland, lol, and more importantly, being in Cleveland while that giant endorsement vacuum cleaner is sucking up all the "outside money." Major endorsement income from last year from Sports Illustrated and their 2009 "top 50 sports money makers" list: LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) $14,410,581 - Salary, etc. $28,000,000 - Endorsements $42,410,581 - Total Shaquille O'Neal Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) $20,000,000 - Salary $15,000,000 - Endorsements $35,000,000 - Total Dwyane Wade Miami Heat (NBA) $14,410,581 - Salary $12,000,000 - Endorsements $26,410,581 - Total Dwight Howard Orlando Magic (NBA) $13,758,000 $12,000,000 - Endorsements $25,758,000 Kevin Garnett Boston Celtics (NBA) $24,750,000 $10,000,000 - Endorsements $34,750,000 Kobe Bryant Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) $21,262,500 $10,000,000 - Endorsements $31,262,500 Allen Iverson Detroit Pistons (NBA) $21,937,500 $7,000,000 - Endorsements $28,937,500 It goes down from there. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/specials/fortunate50/2009/index.html The above is from SI's Top Fifty list of America athletes' earnings. Yao was on the International List of the Top Twenty. It's not broken down between endorsements and earnings, but knowing his salary last year gives us an endorsement total in excess of $15,000,000, which would put him around second or third among NBA player endorsement earnings. Yao Ming Houston Rockets (NBA) China $33,070,550 - Total http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/specials/fortunate50/2009/index.20.html Bosh doesn't want to play in Cleveland in the shadow of James, in my opinion, and assuming his agent has a brain, he'll want to go to Houston and grab a chunk of international endorsement money, along with much greater endorsement earnings in the American market from being "Top Dog" in Houston playing next to good guy and non-ego tripping Yao Ming, again in my opinion. Bosh's place on SI's Top 50 American NBA earners? He's not on the list. DD, it amazes me how eager you appear to rag on a player at the drop of a hat, unless he somehow "turns you on."
He has been like this forever. See Chase & JT after they were drafted. I'm sure he wasn't happy with AB being drafted either.
I'm thrilled that my 2 favorite teams, Houston & Cleveland, seem to have the best offers that makes everyone happy. They have the most attractive assets for Toronto, Bosh would get a max contract, and both teams are almost assuredly playoff bound (provided Lebron stays in Cleveland). Unfortunately both teams seem to be battling for 3rd or 4th place on Bosh's most wanted list. He wants the perfect situation, but it's not out there. He'll have to give up money, location, and or the opportunity to be on a good team.
Don't get too excited just yet. Mitch Kupchak was just spotted stepping into his office, smiling and dialing.
Bosh is not coming here. We are just on his radar. He is stringing everyone along and his agent and Toronto too. We are just SNT leverage to other teams. Even though we have the most to offer? Morey wont offer it. They want Brooks and we arent giving them Brooks. However Morey painted himself into this situation because he wanted nobody but Bosh and made it such a huge deal just this one guy. Now Raptors GM is holding agun to his head saying you really want him Morey I will only accept Brooks. Morey should tell him to go to hell and take Varejuo and mire mediocrity for the next decade.. Unfortuntately Morey made that mistake though. He made the mistake of showing his interest too much. Now Toronto thinks they can make people overpay for Bosh. I would rather us move than deal with these guys now.
It's not that he doesn't want to play in LeBron's shadow, it's just he doesn't want to do it in Cleveland. Chicago or Miami and he is fine with it. If he didn't want to play in another guys shadow he would not even think about joining forces with Wade or LeBron.
who would want to be in cleveland? Their crowd is terrible! It's worse then our crowd which I would say is not that great either.
Way off here. I get the not wanting to live in Cleveland angle. But as far as fans, they rank near the top in average attendance. There's not much else going on in Cleveland, after all.
You actually think Morey doesn't know whats his doing in this situation..... Trust me, if we don't get Bosh he will know its coming and he will have a back up plan... IMWT
