I don't understand why we needed him in the first place. Yao, Scola, Hill, Patterson, Hayes. That's a solid frontline. Now, if someone goes down, then we need to trade for a stud. But until then, I think we should just stand pat. We're fine for now. And young. Really young.
    Let's not change that.

How does it not make sense from a basketball standpoint? He is joining a team with a top 5 player and one of the best coaches in league history (if Riley decides to go to the bench again). Their GM (Riley again) won a title this decade with a team he put together on the fly. You are staying in the weaker conference and don't have to see LA until the Finals. Boston is done. Must they win overnight? They are both young.

That's like saying it didn't make basketball sense for T-Mac to come to us when we didn't have much.

I think it can be done. Hornets are looking for young assets, and are in rebuild mode.

    Something like

    Brooks
    Battier (expiring)
    NY 2011 Swap Pick
    NY 2012 Pick
May be Jeffries (to match salaries)

    For Chris Paul would work.

    Paul
    Martin
    Ariza
    Scola
    Yao

    Not too shabby..

The Craptors have lost Vince Carter, McGrady, and Chris Bosh for nothing. What an idiotic franchise. We should stick to getting Euro players....

Put together on the fly? No sir, not like this. They will literally be piecing this team together from top to bottom. No identity no chemistry no nada and that is undeniably important. 2 superstars? Yes. They literally do not have enough people right now to play a game. Whereas if Bosh came to Houston he'd be them man and have a team of role players laid out for him.

And all 3 have had decent careers but where not championship caliber players. Bosh might change that though.

Agree. At 26yrs old and getting a guaranteed $130 bones over the next 6yrs, how can you turn down Miami.

Why give up so much when you can have someone almost as good in his backup?

Trade Brooks & 2012 pick for Darren Collison.

Because Miami doesn't have any other components around Wade and Bosh right now. They will be a good team thought no doubt. Not sure it equals a championship team if they don't get some other supporting cast besides Michael Beasly. Haslem is ok but after that there is no one, Jermain Oneal is no good anymore. I guess Beasly would be their 3rd best player, they will win in the reg. season and destroy crap teams but what happens when they play teams with more depth, Celtics, Magic, Hawks, and they sure won't get pass the lakers with Beasly being their 3rd option.

Now if they get Lebron, we aren't having this discussion.

They will. It would be hilarious, though, if they didn't. Let Bosh take a pay cut for playing in Miami. He can think of it as a beach tax.

    :)

Only if it is a sign and trade, will he get that much money. It looks like he's just signing with them outright.

McGrady didn't come to us... the Rockets traded for him. And at the end of the day, did the Rockets win anything of substance in the McGrady-Yao era? Even if you want to argue injuries, the team was never truly dominant even when players were healthy. There simply wasn't the team around them when McGrady was in his prime for the Rockets to be elite. That's why the Rockets didn't win a title in that era, and it's why the Heat won't unless LeBron goes there.

As for Miami, not all stats are created equal. Chris Bosh is simply not the impact player that Shaquille O'Neal was in 2005-06. Not to mention that team had established leadership among its front line in Alonzo Mourning and Udonis Haslem, guys that were holdovers from before the Wade-Shaq era. Miami won one title - coming out of arguably the weakest Eastern Conference ever, Wade having the series of his life, a near-prime Shaq and extremely controversial officiating. It was truly the perfect storm, and they never came particularly close in any other year.

Again, though, can Miami get better through free agent acquisitions and trades as the years pass? Possibly. You're right - they are young. But when you have other options that are slam dunk better (HOU, CLE/CHI/NJ with LeBron, Lakers/Mavs/Spurs), it's silly to play the risk. You go where you know the wins are, if you're concerned about basketball.

    Dear Chris Bosh,

Enjoy your max contract and zero championships on a team with 1 other good player.

Again, he probably opts out after year 4 to get that money back....so much for that big media induced extra $30 million is a deal killer frenzy, eh....

Well, the Rockets gave it a shot, disappointed a little, but there are many positives.

I love the team as constructed. Sign Miller, match Scola and Lowry. We can run with that or see if Morey does something to surprise us. I'm still excited and think this team will compete if healthy.

Now we can all just move along and worry about the team we have.

It would be a lot better for Miami if they don't do a sign and trade...they get to keep the Toronto pick and their own too.
