Well, you know what they say, Rome wasn't built over night. Bosh and Wade will look very attractive to future free agents that want to win. His main goal was obviously to play with Wade or LeBron. He gets one of them now. Also you add in the Yao Ming factor. We look great on paper, but if Yao can't stay healthy, our championship dreams look slim, even with Bosh. I believe that played a role.

I agree with you there. Even adding Bosh, we would have needed a little bit of luck. I'd argue though that a core of Brooks, Martin, Scola, and Yao would have gotten to at least the 2nd round and possibly the conference finals.

The thing is adding a player was almost an insurance policy in my mind for the future with the uncertainty of Yao's health. Not adding that insurance policy so far this off-season has me worried. I love Yao and I hope the big fella can stay on the court for once. I know some things are out of your control, Yao won't be purposely trying to break his leg or fracture his foot again... but it only takes one freak fall out of 82 games to ruin it for Yao :\.

If this were Shaq or Hakeem in his prime, or any superstar center that didn't have a significant injury history having a first time injury... I wouldn't be as worried, but Yao's window of opportunity and his ability to keep rehabbing effectively from injuries is closing.

That's obviously a bit of a pessimistic viewpoint and I hope I'm wrong this season, for the sake of the fans and Yao.

Stop mentioning the $100 million, because he would've gotten that ANYWHERE HE SIGNED. It is completely and totally irrelevant. And yes, if you claim to prioritize basketball and are a professional at it, you are stupid to place those other factors you mentioned ahead of winning games.

(And as far as "great city", I've been to Miami plenty. I'd much rather go to Chicago, NY and LA, among many other places Bosh had the option of going...)

Also factor in that the Heat are in the EAST. Bosh was probably not confident playing in a tough western conference. The Road to the Finals is easier in the East than it is in the West.

If only Bosh had other options in the East, some of them involving the best player on the planet and one clearly superior to Wade...

I didn't mean to imply Miami and Houston were his only options, just that the choice of Miami over us is more than defensible.

Look, in my opinion, the top 3 players in the league are Kobe, Lebron, and Wade, and I don't think there's a clear pecking order between those 3. Bosh had the option of teaming up with Lebron in Cleveland, but it's clear that he didn't want to live/play in Cleveland. So, he chose to pair up with Wade, and given Wade's preference for staying in Miami, I think he was fine going there instead of Chicago. I have a feeling that he's gonna work out a S&T with Toronto, which will mean he gets that extra $30 million in addition to being with Wade in Miami. He wasn't gonna get that in his other top options (Chicago, NJ). Otherwise, maybe the 2 of them will find a way to convince Lebron to join them, and then there's no explanation needed why he would choose Miami.

Do you realize that they don't have to win next year for this to be a good move for him? He and Wade are both young. Do you realize we wouldn't be favorites to win with Bosh, and definately not if Yao went down. I think we have a better shot that Miami does with him, but it's no lock. He hitched his boat to the team with the young, top 5 player (something we don't have). That doesn't sound dumb to me.

i've never thought rox had a chance to land bosh due to yao's injury although i believe yao should be able to stay healthy per big-z example. unfortunately, i am not bosh.

but sth i learnt from this chaos. what bosh said in the past about his free agnet was meaningless and misleading. i am starting to suspect his IQ

on his next move, he said he wanted to be an alpha dog on a team. who is the alpha dog on heats. i am pretty much sure everyone knows who is. i am sorry, bosh, wade is the face of heats.

he said he didn't want to play at center position. does anyone know if heats have a center? i doubt they will ask beasley to be a center. can heats get a championship caliber center in a few weeks to face DH? i doubt. good luck to bosh when he defends DH.

he said he is caring about winning. c'mon. heats? what do they have. let's see heats roster. wade, bosh, beasley, chamlers. all four take over 40 mils away. what kind solid role players are going to join them. who else? it seems to me a title is a dream at least next season or two. i can't predict what happens after that. if he really cares about winning, why he doesn't go to bulls or nets. both teams have solid roster. heats roster is pretty much not settled down. after two max, they don't have much left to grab good enough supporting cast to win a title.

to me bosh's choice is bad. btw, whether raptor is willing to do S&T with heats is still a question. raptors won't get much from heats. they have beasley and chamlers only so there is a possibility that bosh could land a contract 30 mil less what he can get.

Those other places, long-term, aren't as slam dunk as you think. Yao is possibly broken. We certainly aren't slam dunk without him. Duncan is old, and they really would have to gut their team to get him. The Lakers and Mavs could be slam-dunk with him, but I can't knock a man for not wanting to nut-ride the champs (if they even wanted to pay him full max) or for not wanting to play at home. I certainly can't knock a dude for not wanting to play in Cleveland, whose management sucks donkey balls. The bottom line is it's quite possible to build a contender around Wade and Bosh, and it doesn't have to happen next season as neither guy is old.

in most cases, they will attract those over hill players who don't have a ring but know their career is going to end and need to jump on a wagon to catch the last bus and don't really care about money. rox after two title runs got sir charles and pippen. lakers went to get malone and another player from seattle (i suddenly can't come up his name). but all cases were failed.

    I agree with this though.

The Heat's roster is so depleted. They have a lot of holes to fill and not much depth. You know what it reminds me of?

It Reminds me of these two...

Remember when we got Tmac to add to our Yao? Our team was pretty much depleted...we didn't have much else...What did we get for that but year after year of failure?

Remember Tmac was the next big thing WHEN we got him, and Yao was the big thing. Remember this was Shaq and Kobe part dos....but still we did not have depth around those two.

I'm sorry but don't put me on the boat for these two winning Miami a ring next year and who knows after that. Can only take things year by year. But right now, Celtics are better than them, Magic are better than them, Hawks are better than them...and if Lebron goes to New York the Knicks will be better than them.

Yes it's important to have superstars...but it's also important to have depth around those superstars.
