Denver, Boston, Charlotte and Miami also made offers but the Rockets did the best job of convincing Wells he was needed. The recruiting contingent included Yao Ming, GM Carroll Dawson, assistant coach Tom Thibodeau, coach Jeff Van Gundy, personnel director Keith Jones and Tracy McGrady, who called Bonzi directly to make his pitch.

it also says that bonzi doesnt care about starting....o he will start, no doubt in my mind, who else is gonna start at 2, head? snyder?

i'm still speechless. shane battier AND bonzi wells. no matter what other moves we made and what we did to get those guys, that's two fantastic offseason additions. add in some potentially nice contributions from our unknowns and wow the rockets look really really good.

Hell yes! As much of a head case Bonzi can be sometimes, this is an absolute steal! Especially this late in the game. THANK YOU ROCKETS. I cannot WAIT til the season opener.

What if Sura does get better toward the end of the season and the lineup look slike this:

    Sura
    Bonzi
    TMac
    Battier
    Yao

with Skip, Snyder, JHo and Deke off the bench.

    That is finals potential, baby!

No. They should use the TE to dump Juwan's contract. Trade him to the Lakers for expiring deals so we have flexibility and cap space next year.

Its a pipedream, but if Sura could get healthy, we'd have the best rebounding backcourt in the league.

I can just see about 5,000 more people per game at TC and with the new PA TC will be rocking. It only takes Ws to fill up the arena, and for those in houston who dont know bonzi will get to know him fast.

DANG IT I CAN'T POST NEW TOPICS!! ARGGHH

I want to make a case for Melvin Ely to Houston.

Melvin Ely signs a 3 year deal worth like 15M, we use the trade exception in order to trade for him. Send a 2nd round pick over to charlotte.

Second part of a separate deal. We send Luther Head to Charlotte for some other non-guaranteed contract.

We need a PF/C right now more than we need a tweener. Luther is great, but honestly we have an opportunity to make this team go all the way, lets get a PF/C while we can.

    It can work.

It's not going to happen. I didn't think so before, but now I believe Head will be gone to another team in exchange for a backup C before the trading deadline. He's our most tradeable asset at the shooting guard position right now (perhaps our most tradeable asset period).

No one wants Juwan Howard. Face it, we are stuck with him till the end of his contract. It's just the way life is sometimes. Lets do something useful with the TE.

We just need him for April May & June. That isn't pipe-dreaming. Rehab him for 6 more months - we're shooting for the finals anyway. Any other playoff game is nice, but save him for the end goal.

Why get rid of Head? He has potential to be a good outside shooter!! We can just use the TE + Rybo to get a backup center
