Novak is a rookie that signed a mutli-year deal, cutting him isn't really a option. Like I said, Bowen will almost always have a place on a JVG team, Jacobsen and Aqubuike have little chance of making the final squad. Please do not admit you're a Bowen fan on this board (or anywhere in Houston for that matter).
OK, let the seaon being already. This is going to be a good season for this team. No predictions for Championships or anything like that but on paper, this is going to be a tough team to play against. It all start in the middle as it should be now that Yao is a major force. Then on defense, isn't Wells and Battier pretty good and TMAC isn't have bad either. This can be a great defensive team and a good offensive team too.
Van Dummy will cut Head to keep Bowen. Don't forget, Bowen still has the pictures of Jeff with the two lesbian circus midgets and the urangatang.
Me, lol, I am old school. But, Hakeem said last night in that interview that coaching is out of the question and he will take on a big brother relationship with Yao. I love it either way, it's supa fly.
I was still wobbling if to buy a HDTV or not for the coming season, and this is the last straw that knocks me over the edge...I am buying it and it is going to be a great season!!
I have had a large LCD screen HDTV with digital cable for 3.5 yrs and do you know how frustrating it is that the Rockets, Texans, and Stros are not on HD programming. Only recently some fox Texans games are HD. What are you referring to? Will the Rockets be on HD this yr?
nice... since im in Asia and no news.... having this pop up in your face... as the first thing you see on the site... is great...
Hey Man, you are telling me this after I just spent a couple Gs on a tv I took it for granted that those games thru NBA league pass should be HD. Are they not
Just some overrated scrub who Popovich said this about: He's been great," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of Wells on Wednesday. "We've tried just about everything on the guy, and he's been more of a problem for us than anyone else has all year. I think that's pretty safe to say. There are a lot of great players in the league, (and) you're usually successful in limiting somebody to some degree. Not him." http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nba&id=2432510
Wells will be a free agent after the season, leading to cynical suggestions that his contract status raised his game. His teammates disagree, noting the oft-criticized guard has been a model teammate and a regular contributor when his health permitted. "I've been in this league too long. I have gotten my money in this league," Wells said. "This is not my first contract. This will be my third one, so I've already been through that stuff. You've got to understand that you can't get caught up in that. The only thing you can worry about is winning championships, because that's what you are going to be remembered by." If this is truly the Bonzi we get, we have a legitimate chance to win it all.
http://www.sacbee.com/100/story/31308.html Bonzi will be Rocket soon The ex-Kings guard OKs a two-year deal with Houston to end his free-agent drama. By Sam Amick - Published 12:00 am PDT Friday, September 29, 2006 Story appeared in SPORTS section, Page C1 Print | E-Mail | Comments (34) The three-month saga of Bonzi Wells' free agency finally ended Thursday, when it was revealed that the former Kings shooting guard has agreed to contract terms with the Houston Rockets. According to the Houston Chronicle, the deal is for two years, with the first year paying Wells $2.1 million from the Rockets' midlevel exception. The conclusion, in other words, wasn't nearly as rich as the plot. Wells rejected a five-year, $36 million offer from the Kings early in the free-agency process that began in July, seeking a contract that would pay him $10 million after his superb playoff performance against San Antonio last season. But the mega payday was not to be for Wells, leaving the 30-year-old to sign a deal that his representation claims he'll opt out of after one year to try the market again in 2007. Phone calls to Wells' agent, Merle Scott, were not returned, nor were calls to Bill Duffy, the lead agent of his representative firm, BDA Sports. Scott was Wells' second agent in the process, as he fired William Phillips in early September after the negotiations had become a what-not-to-do of sorts. As of Wednesday night, Scott was still seeking a sign-and-trade deal involving the Kings that could have given Wells a larger salary and perhaps given the Kings a second-round draft pick and a trade exception. But Kings co-owners Joe and Gavin Maloof consistently made it known they would rather avoid paying the luxury tax they are already nearing, limiting the sign-and-trade options and, ultimately, Wells' income. Heading into free agency, Wells -- who made $8 million last season -- was seen as one of the top players available. He averaged 13.6 points and 7.7 rebounds in his one season in Sacramento, though he missed 30 games because of injury. He was nearly unstoppable against the Spurs, averaging 23.2 points and 12 rebounds in six games. But while players like Peja Stojakovic were signing lucrative deals hours into free agency, Wells and Phillips bided their time. They consistently claimed serious interest from six teams and -- according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations -- eventually pulled a power play on the Kings that clearly backfired when Phillips wouldn't return a call from team basketball president Geoff Petrie for a week. Still, Wells could be in a position to thrive. The Rockets desperately needed a quality backup for superstar Tracy McGrady, who played in only 47 games last season because of a back injury.
Don't know if this has been post but just saw it on yahoo.... WEST RANKINGS ("Western wear," Sept. 28, 2006) I was just wondering if you would be inclined to reorganize your Western Conference rankings now that Bonzi Wells has signed with Houston, especially since he scorched the San Antonio Spurs in last season's playoffs? Also, how do you see Bonzi helping the Rockets? Do you see him fitting in as a starter or a sixth man? Almir Dulic Houston Almir, the Bonzi Wells signing is a coup for the Rockets, no question. To be able to sign him to a two-year, $5 million deal is pretty amazing given Wells' talent. He's one of the strongest post-up wings in the league, he rebounds and he can take over games with his scoring. Of course, he's not without his faults. He likes the ball a lot, and you have to wonder if he'll get it enough to suit him since Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady will do most of the scoring. He's not the easiest guy to coach, either. I think if Bonzi submits himself to the team and plays the role Jeff Van Gundy asks him to play, this could be a great fit. But since Wells signed such a short deal – he has an option after the first year – he's essentially playing for a contract next summer. Will he be a good soldier, or will he be frustrated about not getting the ball enough? That's the question. And with that in mind, I'll keep them right where I have them in the rankings. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...LYF?slug=sk-mailbag092906&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
