I don't care what he has done or said before but Tmac has been being as much a model citizen as you could get after he joined the Rockets team.
Oh, I agree. I mean, he was cited by Charley Rosen, of all people, as one of the nicest guys in the NBA. I just have this feeling that, because he's a sensitive guy like Alston, that you probably just have to keep that in mind if you're a coach. Then again, who knows what really went on in Orlando. With that idiot Weisbrod, I probably would've done the same as T-Mac. What is fact is that T-Mac is one of the most well-liked players in the league among other players. And that says more than some D.A. hockey-guy general manager.
Good for the Rockets but somehow everytime we land a major signing or something that is supposed to be great for the team it ends up failing. Hopefully this will turn out great.
The way I understand the CBA the Rockets could actually give him a 3 year extension worth $27.8 million, if he did not opt out of his second year which is only worth $2.5 million.
Wow, hopefully we don't have to sign him for that much to keep him! But instead of him just opting out and walking, its good to know we can be players too next offseason for his services. You're right, Cato for the vet min might be a great idea too!
I wonder if Bonzi will come in first for Yao. Will they run a lineup of Alston Snyder McGrady Wells Battier ?
I don't think Jacobsen will make the final roster anyways and from what we know of JVG, Bowen will always have a place on this team. I really think this team has a chance to make a big run: Alston-JL3-Spanoulis Wells-Head TMac-Snyder-Bowen Battier-Howard-Hayes Yao-Deke Are NBA teams still only allowed to have a 12 man roster, I thought I read something that they are allowed to have 13 now or something like that.
It doesn't matter if it's Rybo, Haryasz, Azubuike, or Jacobsen. When the 15th man has to play significant minutes the team is in some kind of trouble.
I think the new rule is they are allowed to take a deeper roster into the playoffs - 13 players with 12 "active" players.
Houston will keep either Novak or Jacobsen on the roster since they are long distance shooters - I bet they keep Novak since he can double as a smallish PF. One of the Rocket's goals this offseason(besides getting healthy) was to upgrade our long distance shooting. Novak and Jacobsen were specifically brought in for that. I think Bowen gets cut and they keep Novak for his size and shooting. I've only been a Bowen fan because he seems like a goofball(a hustling goofball)... In all honesty though, I can see the Rockets trying to move Head and another backup (maybe Hayes) for a true big to play backup PF/C minutes. The Rockets have decent backup assets to pull of a trade early in the year with another team to trim our roster down while getting the last thing our team needs - true depth in our bigs.
