Certainly, but lets look at their collective ages shall we? Horry - 37 BBarry - 35 turns 36 in december Van Exel - 35 turns 36 in nov FA guess he hasnt been signed but Finley - 33 Eric Williams - 34 Only Udrih is a "young" bench player. Age is definitely creeping up on the spurs. And we all know how that went for us.
Yeah for the first time in awhile we can honestly say that we have 4 players who would start for other good teams in the league.
I agree...You've swayed me more to your side......but there were no specific "reasons" for my skepticism, it was more of a I dont prefer those guys on the same team kinda thing....No saying they cant play well together...I just think a lot of people other than bonzi would have fit better had we had a better opportunity. But we didnt...So GO BONZI!
No wonder he had some of those monster facial dunks during the playoffs. He still hasn't hit that magical 35 year old mark, when players lose most of their athletic ability.
I'm fairly sure Bonzi WONT be back next year...So, are hoping we win it all this year or that maybe another FA will be available?
It looks like Bonzi basically settled for the Rox. He wants to make big money which his contract here won't give him. With his opt out clause after 1 year it will be interesting to see if he decides to come back. However, I fail to see what all of the hoopla is all about. They (Rox) still face an uphill battle in the West. Even with Bonzi, this is not a championship contender. An awful lot of IFs have to break in their favor for this to be a successful season and I'm not too sure that will happen. I'll have to see they perform out on the court before I will be able to garner much enthusiam for this team but as of now, they look to be OK everywhere but the PF spot. I'm just not convinced that Battier can be the answer at the 4 but that's why they play the games I suppose.
God, you're miserable. The Rockets could win the NBA title and you would find a way to moan about that, too.
IS there a chance of resigning him next season? IF he does well??? Are there any expiring contracts ? such as juwan?
You make some valid points. The PF position is a huge hole + there are a few unknowns which will have to come through. However, Bonzi is the third scoring threat that this team badly needed, and that is a step in the right direction. The unknowns and signings make this season intriguing, which is why people are excited. There is potential for this season to be special.
exactly what i was thinking.... sure we don't know exactly how this will play out but bonzi is an addition to get excited about.
No, I'm not miserable just not prone to unwarranted hyperbole with regards to the Rockets. It's my philosophy to maintain a measured approach to this team because they have let me down many times before. Yes getting Bonzi looks very good and at $2.41 million, a player of his caliber is a real steal but there are still a lot of question marks here that have to answered and the only way they get answered is on the court. I have to see if they finally aquired the ability to force other teams to adjust to what they are doing out there instead it being the other way around (which has been their want for years now). As for an NBA title, sorry but I just don't see that for them this year.
As long as he doesn't play too selfishly to get a big payday next year, this move is a real bargain. Now we are just one or two good players away from having the same talent level as the top few teams.
The guys on 610 are echoing your view right now. They are looking at this move by Bonzi as one where he's playing here to try to get that big contract... that he turned down in Sacramento.
