Wasnt using Kobe Shaq as a pure example....just that, because they are friends doesnt = on court success....
Still no official announcement, wire service news report, or even CF.net's own inside scoop? I hope Wells' agent isn't pulling Ric Bucher's leg.
Exactly! I have had the same questions running through my mind and I wonder when we can expect an official announcement from the Rockets Management?
I was listening to the radio driving to work this morning and both 790 & 610 AM radio stations said we will sign Bonzi to a 2 year reported 5 mill contract.
If you would have told me at the beginning of the offseason that we would miss out on signing Mike James for the full MLE and instead sign V-Span, JL3 and Bonzi Wells, I just wouldn't have believed it. I'm stunned. All my friends who are big Spurs fans are a little concerned right now.
Whether he landed in our laps or not, landing and signing are two different steps. Every player wants to feel wanted and that takes the main players on the team, the coach and upper management to make him feel that way. The lap excuse is just another way to detract from the credit that those guys should be given. Because if the Rocks end up not meeting expectations, people will roast them without mercy. So, lets be even about the whole thing.
So you say as of right now, we are better than the suns, spurs and mavericks FOR SURE? Yes, Spurs are getting old, Suns have Amare but how good will he be after the knee and The Mavericks are pretty much the same as last year........I dont think we have an answer for Duncan...and they also have many great role players.....Ditto for Amare and Nash.....And We arent better then the Mavs until we beat them.....I'd just like to see some on the court action before I crown the rockets the 2007 Nba champions....
WOW! Just wow! rafer/jlIII/vspan/sura -- I am still lovin rafer. It's just awesome to have a true point. Sura would be a dream too, and he'd be the ultimate spark... Rafer is never going to be a spark. I think he starts, and is the court commander until a spark is needed. and as for jlIII and killbill, well let's just stick the 'potential' stickers on them and be happy with anything we get. Atleast span is aggressive which I love. wells/snyder/head/vspan -- wells, wow! whoever said mad max, nailed it. Just hope we've got enough strong wills to keep him in check (come on sura!). Snyder maybe a little flaky too, but he should be fun to watch. head and vspan are gonna hustle. expect wells to get alot of minutes though. tmac/battier/snyder?/novak. -- please be healthy tmac. please be cut rybo. If tmacs in, we're golden. If battier is in, we need yao/wells/howard/best scoring point. If novak can hit at will, then my lord it will be fun. battier/hayes/jhow -- jhow is a weakness. he's not quick, not reliable, just not enthused. hayes works his ass off, and has a knack for the ball. if battier can handle full time at the 4, then we're good. If he can't then here's our weakness. But we don't really need scoring from the 4 anymore. yao/deke/jhow. -- no reason jhow can't spot the 5... Probably where he belongs right now.... Perfect! Hopefully deke's still got plenty of gas though. Oh, this'll be fun!
The Rockets go into training camp next week with a potential starting lineup of Rafer Alston, McGrady, Shane Battier (acquired in a draft-night trade for Stromile Swift and No. 8 pick Rudy Gay), Juwan Howard and Yao, with Wells as the sixth man, but if Wells plays as he did against the Spurs he could challenge Battier and Howard for one of the starting forward spots.
From the ESPN article "Bonzi doesn't care about starting," Scott said. "He just wants to be some place he can contribute." Does that mean we really can have him coming off the bench? I'm teeming with 5-man combos with this list: Rafer Head TMac JHo Yao JL3 Bonzi Battier Hayes Deke Sura? Snyder Novak Rybo Jacobson VSpan Azubuike 17-DANG! Traning camp isn't going to be nice to some of these fools.
