I hope so and more than likely he will.....Will he also try to "take over" a game at the end to get the BIG contract too? Maybe? Maybe not....All I'm saying is by no means does Bonzi make us a sure thing for the West Finals

With Yao and T-mac on the team I don't really see that happening

It's doesn't mean we can buy our tickets to the finals but it does improve our chances.

Of course we still need to see what this team looks like on the floor.

If Yao and TMac had stayed healthy, the Rockets were already contenders.
NOW.............Finals - HOUSTON ROCKETS DEFEAT THE MIAMI HEAT IN 6!!!!

Anyone else think T-Mac deserves some kind of front office job after he's retired?

DAMN! We'll finally have some firepower at a few different positions.

I envision Bonzi actually being a sixth man off the bench as his game is
better served posting up smaller guards and with Yao not on the floor,
though his offensive and rebounding would be critical at the end of games.

I envision a starting lineup of:

    Yao - Howard - Battier - McGrady - Alston

with Mutombo - Wells replacing Howard and Yao.

Imagine the steals and defensive pressure a lineup of:
    Yao-Battier-Wells-McGrady-Snyder could present.

I know this thread is a runaway freight train, BUT, still no report on FOX, Yahoo, AP, etc. I would like this news to move beyond the "serious insider" stage and go public. If this thing doesn't get confirmed, we are all in for a hard fall.

So first you don't think he and McGrady will work despite McGrady saying he and Bonzi are friends and hung out during the off season. Then you bring up shots even though Bonzi has never been a big scorer/shot taker, and now he is not a team player?

I agree he seems to be a whiner and has an image of a malcontent but it is interesting that he played on very deep Blazer and Memphis teams and never demanded a trade. Apparently Hubie got frustrated with him but he also only played him about 22 minutes a game. Memphis officials have said he never demanded a trade.

I think this is a guy who doesn't care that much about scoring but who might have a problem with wanting to feel needed or something like that. If he and McGrady are friends and with Battier and Yao Ming being "nice guys" I think we can easily survive one year with Bonzi without anything crazy. The Kings offered him a long-term deal so they obviously didn't have too many problems with him.

Man, the rest of the NBA is gonna hate coming to Texas, now. Welcome to the Texas "Bermuda" Triangle, where any semblance of game you had simply disappears and you get your ass handed to you on a silver platter. :D

BTW, kudos to the Rox front office, we've been giving them sh*t ever since the Rox didnt want to go Gay. Haha! Here's to a GREAT season coming up. Definitely looking forward to the season now. Whoohoo!

Weren't Kobe and Shaq friends at one point? We really didnt have an option not to get bonzi...He was the best available....And we needed help...Does he provide this...Yes...Are we better than the Top 3 teams in the West..I seriously doubt it...Unless this is Yao's break out year and he plays to his #1 option on the team potential..

Contenders in one move! Couldn't be happier right now! Start Bonzi, sit Juwan.

Thanks, I feel better about it, sounds like the real deal. Bonzi starts at the 2 and with no significant injuries and a few rookie surprises the Rockets should be able to threaten the elite. Yes, he makes that much difference. This was long shot. I am stunned.

No, they weren't. Besides, they had an inevitable power struggle because both are superstars. Bonzi is nothing close and, again, has never tried to be.
