I was on the phone with my family, when my friend called me about the news! I was like "Really? OMG". :D I am seriously considering to get a League pass for the coming season, which need to be proved by wife though ;)

this clip shows if he sets his feet he can be an effective outside shooter. Hopefully having Tmac Yao and even Battier in the lineup will give him the time he needs to get his shot off.

if Skip doesnt lead the L in assists this season, somethings wrong.

we have literally put together key players to our tandem for pretty good prices...
    1. battier for draft pick and mle from last yr.
    2. vspan and bonzi for this yrs mle

    not bad huh?

we don't necessarily need a great pf, we can get by with an average one simply because we now have a rebounding guard.

i am set with this roster, glad we still have the te just in case during the seasons

    yao
    battier
    tmac
    wells
alston (vspan starting by all star)

Just something that I hadn't thought of yet, but I thought was worth mentioning...

Wells and Battier were teammates on the Grizzlies for 2 seasons, so there ought to be at least a little bit of chemistry between them to start with. Should be a plus.

the ESPN story that broke the news suggested Howard would be the starter at 4.

I hope he's traded , but if not, JVG will likely start him.

shouldnt upset the applecart too much, just as long as his minutes are kept to the 20's.

which raises an interesting question - I wonder what Battier thinks of this signing?

I'm guessing he didnt rail against it to the organisation, but I wonder how he feels deep down.

This is a key pick-up. Without it, I'd say the Battier trade was questionable. But now, the Rockets are clearly attempting to build a contender.

A healthy T-mac and Yao means that JVG is completely responsible for this season. There are no more excuses...if this team does not play as an elite team, then the fault lies completely with coaching and there should be no if, then's or buts.

I bet this is the best team T-mac ever had in a regular season.

I noticed that he wasn't listed (unless I'm mistaken) as one of the guys from the organization that lobbied for Wells, so who knows. You'd think a guy who played with him, and is as curteous a person as Shane Battier, would take the time to speak with a potential signee.

    Hmm...I wonder.

This trade not only made the Battier trade not questionable, it actually made that trade 100% the correct trade and made the non drafting of Brandon Roy (Portland's screwing us out of him) a blessing in disguise.

If we would have drafted Roy, we would still have Swift (who IMHO is much worse than Battier because he hasn't proven anything) and we would have lost Head.

Right now this team is 10-11 deep: Alston, Wells, Tmac, Battier, Yao; Bench: VSpan, Head, Snyder (maybe), Novak (should be good complimentary shooter like KVH to the Mavs), Howard (I know I may get bashed for this but I think he will be very solid for like 10-15 minutes off the bench, NOT as a starter but as a small role player he could give a break to Yao or Battier), Also possibly Chuck Hayes (depending if he plays)

I honestly think the Rocket's starting 5 can match up with the elite teams and easily at that:
Spurs: Parker, Gino, Bowen, Duncan, Elson/Horry
Dallas: Harris, Terry, Howard, Dirk, Dampier (LOL)
Suns: Nash, Bell, Marion, Diaw, Amare

Now all these teams have 1 thing in common: A better point guard/power forward, but our point guard/power forward can pass/shoot 3s, + our PG/PF are just role players and theirs are their main people and our SF and C are much better than any of these teams (excluding the Suns). I think the Suns have a better starting 5, but all these guys have to play 35-40 minutes a game at least, in the long run and playoffs they will be worn out.

GL ROCKETS, WIN IT ALL THIS YEAR!!

Finally. This is great news for the Rockets. I hope PF gets in upgrade but if not I can live with Juwon. I can't for this season to get going. I also hope the Stros can make the playoffs. I will be getting NBA League Pass(Maybe the Rockets bring back Calvin and that will make it a great off season).

    Like the signing.

The only things that mildly worries me is if he's going to be a black hole playing for contract. He needs to understand offense starts with Tmac, Yao touches.

On the other hand, he can come off the bench to be the fire power.

Now, we only has 2.1 mil, and we sign him for 5 mil. Arent we over the limit? So Les is not cheap.
