Simmons is great, you guys gotta go to that article, and read the whole thing....

He had enough laughs in there for me to not give a rat's tail if he ranked the Rockets 30 out of 30.

Read his eastern and western conference previews.

If the Rockets really do finish ninth, the bald gentleman with three names may be replaced by the loopy gentleman with nine rings.

Cleveland looked really good against the Pacers. Cause LeBron brinked 1 of 2 free throws in overtime, they would have won.

Dude can beat up cartoon characters in the chamber of fear.

i'll just post what i posted in nba dish.

whether he's saying stuff i agree with or not, bill simmons is the funniest sports writer who has ever lived and possibly the best sports writer ever period. he just thinks of the most random thoughts and they are so perfect. the movie quotes, the different names for faces (i.e. the Private Pyle face for shareef), the random thoughts, the jahidi white won't be on espn's front page again unless he kills someone comment from the first preview, they're all so perfect.

man, can't believe he has us 9th. it ain't looking good so far though.

That really is an abuse of the traditional term acronym, which is generally synonymous with initialism. Here's why TMac fails to pass as an acronym in my book:

    (1) A letter is included in the acronym which is not present in
    the source word(s).

    HINT : TMac

    (2) How many non-initial letters do we get to use before we are
simply talking about an abbreviation. Your example of "CWEBB"
is rather appropriate in this context.

In way of an (albeit ridiculous) example, can I start calling Bill Simmons by his new acronym: BILLSIMMON?

BTW, this is not a flame, just an amusing aside on vocabulary. :)

    cheers,
    DaGli (my new acronym)

Yup. From the time that the Kidd/Marbury trade went down until now, B-Sim has flip-flopped on Marbury THREE times. The guy is a great read and I like his analysis, but he makes declarations and predictions waaaaaaaaaaaay too quickly.

    And after 2 losses orateam:

"The team has traded down, McGrady is a crybaby, I have to whine about the Rockets, the Rockets traded down".

After the Rockets get over .500

orateam: "McGrady will drag the team down, McGrady is overrated, what McGrady whine"

After the Rockets clinch a playoff spot, Orlando Magic fan orateam:

    *Blank*

Will disappear like every other troll.
