Since it seems as though Dwight Howard likes Monta's game, perhaps Houston should consider an offer? It'd be mildly amusing to see an analytics-conscious organization put in for Monta's inefficient ways, and it's sometimes worth it to cater to a superstar's irrational wants. Personally, I'd stay away from Ellis. His style shouldn't age well and it's not clear that he's a help to teams right now.
the line ups of... asik/dwight dwight/demo chandler/harden harden/lin lin/beverely will have espn and the world camping out at toyota center. we will be on tv more than honey boo boo.
I can see Asik/Lin to make salaries work (and save Robinson). If it takes more than that to pick up Smith, that's probably a bigger contract than Smith deserves.
It's hard not to read this and think of it as being far too typical of what one gets from "Insider" and ESPN. Heck, they toss things on the wall and really don't care whether it sticks, or not!
I'm one of those who hates Monta's game, but that said I actually wouldn't mind signing him with the MLE and with the understanding that he will only come off the bench (barring injury). Since he probably wants about twice the MLE and also probably wants to start... not gonna happen. Not going to lie though, the prospect of Monta in a 6th man role off the bench is at least a little bit enticing, assuming that we also get Dwight.
Monta opted out of eleven million and will sign for MLE? Who do you think he is, Spreewell? Seriously, Monta has game. He just doesn't have team to go with game. Sac is his presumed soft landing spot, and (if so) the Kings' royal dysfunctionality springs forward. Again; still.

Uh, didn't I say he won't do it? Monta has the game of a 6th man off the bench. That's the peak of his talent level. It's too bad anybody ever treated him like a star player and played him 40 minutes a game, because he's not good enough to carry that kind of load for a team.
