I hate to break it to you, but almost all owners know very little about baseball and they haven't "played the game." Completely different class.
http://tigers-thoughts.blogspot.com/2008/08/projected-elias-rankings.html You feel like an idiot yet? Wolf is projected as a Class B free agent and the Astros will receive a sandwich pick if they offer arbitration and he signs elsewhere. The same projections also show Brocail as a Class A free agent, which may have something to do with his option being denied.
Would you call Wolf's second half a major miracle? I wouldn't. He said that Wolf's second half would have to equal Lincecum and Volquez's first halves. He didn't even come close to doing that, yet he still looks like he'll be a Class B free agent.
ignoring the comment on the pitchers.. i think Wolf's 2nd half was a minor miracle. No way anyone expected that after his inconsistent, if not putrid, start to the season. Didn't think he still had that in the tank. If he commands more than 6 mil per year or so, please say no Ed..
I thought I understood the Elias rankings. Apparently not. From what I read he actually scored fairly well among Type B's. I will refrain from commenting on this subject in the fututre as it is clear I don't know what I am talking about.
To your credit, you used the word "loosing" rather than "losing" when referring to Randy going elsewhere in free agency. I rather like the idea of "Loosing the Wolf" amongst the other teams in the league.
