If you were Ariza, why-o-why would you want to come to Houston now when you can get more money on a winning team. He committed when there was a chance Yao would be back.
Dude, that has already been bunked in this thread... Press Conference at 3pm on Wednesday here in Houston... Geez, please read before posting...
Pretty sure he knew the writing on the wall. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/sports/6510699.html
http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/07/cleveland_cavaliers_gm_danny_f_1.html Just to play up the paranoia... Mike Brown and Danny Ferry are in Los Angeles courting "undisclosed free agents."
twitter end all and be all... YahooSportsNBA Just checked out 'net rumor on Ariza bolting Rockets commitment for Cavs: Not true, says informed source. All set to sign with Houston. same guy who broke the Yao out for year/ possibly career story...
Courtesy of Jordan-esque on LG http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=93564 - Says he doesn't know what really went on regarding negotiation. Felt like Lakers were saying he was worth MLE money. A lot of I don't knows. I mean a LOT of I don't knows from Trevor. - Nothing he could really do with the negotations. - Reason he chose Houston was to be closer to his son, and his family. They said he'll be getting more opportunities there to expand his game. - Aboud David Lee, thinks that anything Mr. Gumbygld did, paraphrasing "I don't think anything he could've done would be wrong." Says he's a loyal guy. - Says he was not in the negoations because he was not aware that there was one, from his understanding. - Says it's tough to leave LA his home. - Says he's not pulling a Hedon't and will indeed sign with the Rockets. - Said every Laker player called him and wished him the best. No hard feelings against the Lakers. - Hadn't heard from Phil. Vitti gave him a call. He was on at 3:40 pm (Podcast Link available later at AM570radio.com). Seems like he really had NO or LITTLE control of his OWN negotiation. There were a LOT of "I don't knows" on his part. Didn't even sound happy talking about signing with Houston. In fact, Myers, Hartman, and the other hosts were all talking about it and ribbing David Lee.
It's kind of amusing how the LA talk show hosts presume that nobody can EVER conceive of leaving the Lakers-- if they do leave, there must be crazy foul play. Thus, all of the David Lee = Evil Schemer hints. Ariza sounded like he simply didn't want to offend anyone. I guess if he sounded happy about his new gig, the radio hosts (one of them was Chris Myers, I think, who used to be a Sportscenter anchor) would have a heart attack from the excitement.
