It's funny because i got this exact twitter response this morning after I asked him on twitter last night on my cell.
People keep bringing up this comparison but they are not similar. Ariza is two inches taller and has a wingspan over seven feet. Anderson was almost 27 when he signed with us.
Can Ariza be a Kevin Martin ? Kevin Martin Height 6 ft 7 in Weight 185 lb Draft 26th overall, 2004 Trevor Ariza Height 6 ft 8 in Weight 220 lb Draft 43rd overall, 2004
not at all. they are not even similar players. what does their height, weight, and draft history have to do with this comparison?
Anderson was 25. Ariza just turned 24. Yes Ariza is a little taller and longer, but it wasn't a lack of height and length that made Anderson such a bad signing. It was the fact that he had no offensive talent whatsoever, beyond being a decent spot up shooter.
i wouldnt say he is unknown, but he definitely hasnt been the player he was last year consistently during his career. that probably has a lot to do with playing time, the system, and immaturity. time will tell how good the acquisition was, but it is a solid pick up. low risk, high reward, pretty much a morey move.
Anderson was never as good as Ariza defensively. He wasn't a tal 6-8 SF with a 7 foot wingspan. Ariza is worth his $$ if he just stays at his current level...i.e. a younger version of Battier.
You have to think Battier is going to be moved, because we are committing so much money to Ariza, but the young guy could benefit a great deal with a season learning from Shane.
We'll probably have the same amount of wins during that time span too. What's our goal for this next season? It's all so bizarre considering just weeks ago we were talking about contending for the title. And if anyone says that we are contending for the title next season needs to have their head examined. I want to discuss realistically not in some homer world.
Completely differnet players. Ariza will never reach Kevin Martin's offensive capability just like Martin will never reach Ariza's defensive prowess.
Anderson signed for $41 mil and 6 years, which was alot more than $33 and 5 years of Ariza, a decade later. Ariza is taller, tougher and has higher rebounding, higher steals, clutch 3pt shooting in the playoffs. Morey is good at finding players that we think will be disappointing, and end up playing good. I don't know he does it, but it works.
Can Shawn Bradley be like Yao Ming, but with more experience? Yao Ming position C Height 7'6" Weight 310 lb 28 yrs old Shawn Bradley position C Height 7'6" Weight 275 lb 37 yrs old
Well maybe Budinger will erupt for 50 pts in summer league and then we can trade him for Martin. The Kings are rebuilding after all...
