Ron's deal is actually the same as Ariza's basically. 5 years 33M according to Cbssports.com who broke the story to begin with. So ask yourself this naysayers. Who would you rather have long term considering Yao and TMac are basically done for next season? Give me the 24 year old
Similar deal to Ron's but keep in mind he will also be cashing in under the Yao umbrella. Hayes and Battier got shoe deals in China--Ariza can also make some extra dollars if he plays well and hopefully Yao can continue
wow, I am hyped about Ariza coming to the Rockets. Morey never ceases to amaze me, even though he pulls moves like this constantly. The franchise is in good hands as long as Morey is the GM.
The big question now is, can ron-ron maintain his cool under phil jackson? I'm glad to have Ariza... Great job morey
5 years @ 33 million?? Are you ****ing kidding me?? Sorry, but I'd rather have Artest for 3 years @ 18 million. We are settling for scraps. Ariza is decent, but no one that can drive this team like Artest did (he PUSHED this team whether you all care to recognize or not). There BETTER be more in the pipeline because the Lakers just got in position to dominate this league and anyone that thinks otherwise hasn't got a clue.
Cmon now. Rodman was 10x the volatile player that Ron is and The Zen Master handled him like Mister Miyagi. Ron....congrats on getting your ring in 09-10. You deserve it man!!!
crazy pills wasn't a name that we just drew from a hat. he earned it. it's very plausible for ANYONE to consider do-do bird wrecking the lakers. Ron has a track record of doing such. He was on his best behavior and playing for his last big contract. Care to make a friendly wager that Ron doesn't make it to the end of his deal in LA?
I did say it was a good move, despite having concerns about it.He can give us length, defense, and hard work if nothing else. I admit he has been overpaid,if it doesn't work,he is young enough to be traded.
how is yao and tmac missing a year long term? 2010, rockets should be ready to sign max players.......that's 1 year from now, it's not like the rockets are on some 5 year plan here, a year from now, they should be ready to go, and they'd be better off with ron artest.
morey is a dam fine GM. but this deal shouldn't amaze anyone. Ariza had all of one good month. I'm not impressed, and certianly not amazed. no bosh, no stoudamire, no rubio. chase budinger, trevor ariza and tracy mcpastry's expiring contract is all we have. still plenty of time though......
i disagree. the things that artest did really well are fading. this move makes so much more sense for the rockets. sorry i just dont feel like explaining it. but morey did what was best. bet on it.
And Ron would be 30 years old. His D has declined. Shane on the last leg of his contract. Bottomline, Ariza is gonna end up being Shane's replacement
Be patient and give Morey time. Everybody knows Ariza is just a complimentary piece to the puzzle, Morey is not done.
Artest didn't drive s**t. Are you kidding me, you just fell for his theatrics. his own teammates didn't respect him. His D is overrated; he used to be top 5 defender, not anymore, not even close. By the way, he SUCKED in the playoffs.
Really sad to see Artest go. He was the heart of the team last year and was the vocal leader. His intensity and toughness ended up spreading to the entire team and led to that 7 game series against the Lakers. Ariza is a guy who averaged 9 points a game last year. He isn't a major impact player. He's a good role player and young, but this move indicates, so far at least, that we're rebuilding with no real goal of getting to the playoffs next year.
Ok my friends, I have some good moves. Rockets trade T-Mac, Carl Landry, Jermaine Taylor, and 2010 1st ound pick to Pistons for Richard Hamilton, Tashuan Prince, and Kwame Brown. Rockets trade Aaron Brooks, Shane Battier, Brian Cook, Chase Budinger, and Joey Dorsey to Portland for Steve Blake, Rudy Fernandez, and Joel Przybilla. Sign Fabricio Oberto. Starters: (minutes per game) PF - Scola (32mpg) SF - Prince (30mpg) C - Przybilla (30mpg) SG - Hamilton (30mpg) PG - Lowry (20mpg) Bench: PG - Blake (20mpg) PG/SG - Fernandez (27mpg) SF/PF - Ariza (27mpg) PF - Hayes (12mpg) C - Oberto (12mpg) SG/SF - J. White PF/C - K. Brown I really like that rotation. And if Yao comes back you just plug him in at Center and Przybilla becomes his backup, with Oberto as depth.
