i think this is great for us. artest was still better but i think i'd rather have ariza over the next 3 years. with ron gone and yao questionable, we REALLY need some size on the interior.
Would rather have Artest for the MLE + 3 years. There's a reason why the Lakers picked up Artest and let Ariza go.
if battier isn't moved, looks like Ariza is our new SG? that's probably a more formidable defense duo than Battier and Artest.
I am happy I guess i wonder how he will fit but its nice to see a UCLA Bruin I went to school with join the Rockets will get a Ariza jersey for sure
Laker fans during the playoffs: "I'd take Ariza over Artest any day. Artest is a headcase that dribbles too much and shoots his team out of games...no thanks!" Laker fans today: "LOL Houston got screwed! It's like we just trade Ariza for Artest...what a bunch of suckers. Time for another dynasty!" I haven't actually looked at their reactions...but I'm pretty sure this is accurate.
Hopefully LA, Houston, Artest and Ariza come together and agree to do these deals as a sign and trade.
This is exciting. At $5.6 it seems like a reasonable price for a young, athletic, upcoming player. a little redemption. Now i'm curious to see what goes down with Battier.
We are unwilling to sign artest and blow our money on ariza? If Ariza got full MLE I will be pissed. I think Ariza is a good complementary player, but unfortunately we have no stars.
this is exactly what we needed!! as much as i did love artest he was a ball stopper!! can u imagine us resigning wafer and brooks ariza landry running the break!! maybe a trade with battier is in the works?
yea i have no idea how we are signing these rookies. oh well we just got younger so thats a plus, i really feel like battier is bout to get shipped, i tried battier, scola and cook for amare and it worked, wouldnt be suprised if it happens now that we have a 3 man who can guard and play offense as well.
We basically got younger at the expense of a viable scoring option to feed off from (yeah we know Ron's shot selection was spotty, but he could create his own offense, sometimes to the detriment of the team). In the long run I think this is better but everybody better learn that Princeton offense, cause we won't have anyone to create the offense, unless Adelman thinks AB taking 20-30 shots is a good idea. BTW, this is prolly buh bye to Von.
I must say I was against letting Ron go but am happy if it means getting Ariza for two reason. Up tempo style we are likely to play with no Yao is a lot better suited for Ariza and also I honestly think Artest going to LA actually makes them worse.
wow nice. a year or two ago ariza playoff performance and potential would have him get payed 8+ a year. guess this economy is good for something.
