What is right. Career assist avg is 1.3 Career points is 6.9 Rebounds is 3.8 I know his minutes have been somewhat low so maybe he continues to grow like he showed in the playoffs this year. More minutes means more production hopefully.
[Source] The Houston Rockets just signed Trevor Ariza to a Multiyear deal for 6 million dollars this evening. Ariza is most likely going to be taking Artest's spot in the starting line up averaging just over 8 points a game.
I bet you anything it was Toronto that was the team courting Ariza with the 9m extra. Great the Rockets out bid them for Ariza.
I'm going to miss Artest's pitbull attitude, but I'm glad to have Ariza on this team. I hope he continues his playoff championship mentality here next season! ARTEST THE TRAITOR SLAYED BY ARIZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAA!
If I told you we just spent 33 million on a 7 year vet with these numbers: 6.9 points 3.8 rebounds 1.3 rebounds You would say bad deal. Hopefully his learning experience and more PT bumps his numbers.
What am I supposed to look at? What he did over a few months or what he has done in 7 years. You know who had a good season. Richard Hidalgo. How did that work out?
Damn, I guess I have to quit disliking the guy pretty quick now.... and start disliking Artest. I hate the Lakers....
The problem is that you keep saying that Ariza is a 7 year vet. He's been in the league for 5 years. That's throwing everyone off.
Last year he played between 30 to 40 minutes in 17 games (started 12 of them). Here are his stats for those games. 33.0 minutes 12.8 points 5.3 rebounds 2.4 assists 2.0 steals 0.3 blocks 56.0% FG 44.6% 3PT 76.1% FT That's a small sample of games, but I think it's significant enough to say that he would have no problem producing if given big minutes.
Am I the only one feeling lukewarm about this? I need to read the whole thread to see, but I sort of feel like we are overpaying a role player. Though I do think he could do well in Adelman's system... and without Yao (or Tracy) we will definitely be running it the way it should be done. I need time to let this fester...hopefully it won't rot but instead grow penicillin
This is a fantastic move and more likely to pay dividends in the future. Ariza has youth, size, athleticism, championship experience and is still getting better. This is all at a need position, too. Gortat would have been nice, but offering him the full mid-level could have been potentially disastrous since Orlando has stated they would match. The Rockets would have lost out on most of the other targets since their offer would be in limbo while Orlando decided what to do.
