so artest gets 6 mill a year, and we say no to get ariza for 5.6? makes no sense, i dont care if ron wants more than 1 year, there's no way this ariza thing is 1 year deal.
Terrible signing. 29% 3 point shooter 66% FT shooter Never scored double digits in his 7 year career. Doesn't pass, doesn't rebound. 5 yrs 33 million Good defender is all. Lakers will never consider matching this.
[Source] The Houston Rockets just signed Trevor Ariza to a Multiyear deal for 6 million dollars this evening. Ariza is most likely going to be taking Artest's spot in the starting line up averaging just over 8 points a game.
Just so peopel don't get confused, I believe the "9 million more than Houston" offer is in total, and not annual. So if our contract to him is 33million, then 9million more would be 41 million.
ariza's is a 5 year deal if ariza did give up 9 million elsewhere then it must have been either toronto or portland calling and yes i can see him leaving that on the table for playing time portland has SFs (batum, outlaw and dont forget Martell Webster who should be back next year) so where would he fit in there? and toronto is well toronto...that place is like nba hell in canada and bosh is out after 1 season. maybe then houston was his best option for playing time and cash...i dont know
Man this team is so good. seriously. we have a great group of role players and borderline all stars. And we potentially get a healty t-mac back, and maybe even yao comes back depending on our record. I think this team is going to surprise us.
Artest just brought up twitter on ESPN. God, I hate twitter. Anyway, I'm happy we signed a quality player this off season but I'm still in a haze as to the direction of this team. Here's to hoping for the best.
we will still be a good defending team..but our O will be even more dreadful then it was prior I hope morey has more tricks up his sleeve
This is funny to me. The guy literally turned 24 3 days ago and you act like he is a washed up "has-been". Last time I checked he played 31 minutes a game in the playoffs for the World Champion Lakers. Phillip thought he deserved starters minutes at the age of 23. This signing is setting up the foundation for the Class of 2010. He may never be an All Star, but he will be a solid starter.
I know he's not a good ball handler and I know he's not a go to guy but that doesn't change the fact that Battier can still mentor him. You act like I said he is going to teach the damn guy how to play every single aspect of Basketball.
