I wouldn't mind Derrick Williams on this team. We can't have CBud be a starter that's for sure.

I don't get the adoration either. I think he's a very good GM, but until a winner is put on the floor, it really doesn't matter what other moves he makes. He has tried to get stars, and failed each time. It could be due to certain factors, but the final/big move is what matters, and that has eluded Morey.

If he can't get the deal done, he's a desperate man that can't work his magic because he tweets too much. CF.nets--where schizophrenia happens.

In all honesty, I don't mind Budinger as our starting small forward IF our PF and C were/are/will be lock down defenders. His shooting and ability to get to the basket is good if we had the defense to mask his inefficiencies

If we are building a well-rounded team (without a superstar anchor), we need at least very good players at every position who can at least stay even with their matchups consistently on both ends. I don't forsee Cbud doing that. But hey, he may surprise me and really bring his game to the level I expected him to last year (he's going into his 3rd year after all--and that's when many guys make their big jump).

But if we can get Dwill, it would really stabilize our 3 spot for years to come. And he's much more versatile offensively, and has the built to be a good defensive player.

The thing about that is, while it's ideal and wanted to have all-around players at every position, if Budinger progresses well enough next year where he can give you 15 points a game with a few rebounds thrown in he's not going to be the weakest link the chain. His defense is not atrocious (e.g. Peja's matador defense in the playoffs). As long as the Rockets can use that #2 pick on a player that can add size and defense, Budinger's okay.

Of course all of this goes out the window and becomes a moot point if the Rockets manage to get the #2 and draft Williams.

So you would take Kanter over Williams with the #2 pick (say hypothetically that we do trade for it.)

Honestly? It's a coin flip for me between them because, while Kanter would fill our need for a center, Williams is the better prospect. Drafting Kanter would allow us to, in theory, concentrate on other weaknesses of the team. Drafting Williams would, in theory, make a few players on this team more expendable (Scola? Patterson? Budinger?) and can use said players to hopefully trade for that defensive center.

I guess the Jazz can envision putting Williams at the SF position next to Jefferson and Favors?

Don't see that working. Minnesota doesnt need cap relief, so the player they recieve will have to justify moving down 4 spots. Don't see Millsap being that type of player.

Jonny Flynn is not an "established player".

How does Washington move up to 3rd from 6th? McGee?

if we got the #2 and drafted Kanter, we would still have #23 and take a Jordan Hamiltoin or even a chris singleton to fill that SF role..

    OR

we take Williams and use the #23 on say Donatas monjetuiz@#%$&% or hoiwever u spell his name…

i think Kanter/Hamilton would be better..

Uhh Millsap + 6th is easily worth #2. Sixth pick can only hope to be as good as Millsap and he's still young.

But ya, this deal makes no sense besides that.

I don't understand this thought process....

    People lack patience....

This is a game of Chess, man......not Checkers.

What exactly is it that people expect this dude to do?

Draft or trade for Kobe or Lebron with a bag of chips and a wink?

It's not like he doesn't make the effort....

It's takes A LOT to get a superstar and/or move up in the lottery; and in order to do so, you need to build up assets which is what Morey has been doing since both T-Mac and Yao started being injured every other day.

He hoped Yao would be able to beat the injury bug so he built around the idea that Yao was the center piece.

NOW he's building around the idea of NOT having Yao....

This transition isnt gonna happen overnight.

    Makeshift reloading....

And why in the world would you EVER overpay for something that isnt worth it?

I'd rather ride out with Chuck at C, then trade away GOOD players for a below average C just because they're 7'0.

    Eff dat!

Every person he's drafted has been way better than where they were drafted...

Every trade he has made, he has won......he got K-Mart here for a broke down T-Mac....lol

    Really?

    You gonna front on that????

Not saying anything you probably dont already know.....but OH how quickly people forget.

GM's are literally afraid to trade with this dude.....

Dont lose sight.....and let that man do his job.....

The first time I played chess against a computer, I was amazed at how hard the computer would fight just to win one pawn. I also noticed that it kicked my ass all the time.

Morey has chips to pursue the big fish, at least the big fish in the draft. This is no accident; he built up that situation, just like he put us in a situation to have no bad contracts, and a pretty young roster.

If he doesn't make a splashy move this time, he will still have those assets, and will build up his stock of assets. It is true that he hasn't yet gotten us a superstar, but what he has done is set us on a long-term path to a great talent base.

    Agreed.

Some can't see that....but to the strategic minded, it's obvious what he IS doing...

    He's been doing it....

I just hope we can get somethin tonight and not lose much to get it.

    Enes Kanter
    Jonas Valanciunas?
    Thristan Thompson
    Donatas Montejunas

As long as we get one of those guys i'll be content.

What is Tristan Thompson's impact to our rotation? How many minutes can he receive with Scola and Patterson? I'm sure he'll be a great pro, but we have a logjam as it sits.

Unless Scola/Patterson are on the move Thompson makes no sense
