You would think that the Knicks would know by now not to deal with anything or anybody named Houston.

Too bad the "Allan Houston Rule" (whereby a team could waive a player and not have his contract count against the cap) was only valid for one year. Otherwise, Allan Houston the GM would be able to use the "Allan Houston Rule" to cut loose Eddy Curry's terrible contract.

    Could you imagine the negiotiations?

GM Houston: Listen you are a good offensive player who can really just shoot the ball how in the heck do you expect us to pay you 100 million?

Player A: Well thats how much you got paid and I can shoot the ball better than you

GM Houston: Sigh you're right ok how about 99 million then?

Player A: Where do I sign?

GM Houston (to himself) Allan baby you still got it!

Allan Houston always struck me as an intelligent player - but that doesn't necessarily make him a good candidate for GM. I can't believe anybody would consider a guy like Houston after the success of guys like Morey and Presti. The Cho hiring in Portland makes far more sense to me.

p.s. I hope this happens. Those draft picks are gold.

70% pct of the championships won this decade is by former player GMs.

Probably because 95% of GMs are former players.

If they did the rankings of owners, Dolan would be #2 behind only Sterling.

First the Isiah years, then gut the team so badly that there's no incentive for LBJ to sign, and now this. Damn, that's dumb. At least Sterling knows how to make money from his team.

Not sure why you'd expect someone who got a ridiculously over the top contract for themselves would be bad at negotiating the other direction.

Too bad most of the people here only judge him by his former max-contract and don´t see what person he is. He´s one of the more intelligent players and involved in many education programs and foundations. Clearly Coach or GM potential in my opinion.

It would be very confusing saying:

"Houston signs Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony"
