Does lack of explosiveness also apply to Battier, LOL? I find it funny that you start another guy that plays relatively the same position who has no explosiveness and it's ok. If this is coaches logic sit them both out and play Bundinger!!

Your comparing two completely different players. Battier, a defensive specialist, doesn't have any explosiveness to rely on. McGrady, a creating wing player, is dependent on his.

Basically, he looks fantastic for a guy that had microfracture surgery eight months ago, pretty bad for Tracy McGrady. As with the Rockets plan to bring him back, nothing has changed.

That irritates me a BIT, can someone explain?

he isn't supposed to be even running now and the guy is doing everything with no limitations.

But that's not quite what we have seen in the past.

Btw, all of the sudden Feign saw him during practice? He has been saying this forever - 'Practices are closed'

He will not return till, at least, All star break. Long ways to go means dec./jan. not 3 weeks guys.

    - He really wants to play
    - It's his fault, he's sorry.
    - Give him a chance, you have a great team to watch while we wait for him.

i interpret that as he looks to be in great shape for a guy who had this type of surgery (and way ahead of schedule in terms of rehab), but he's not the tracy mcgrady we all know yet (the all-star player). and that should be understandable.

again, as long as tracy keeps working hard like he has been, he'll be back soon enough. it's all up to him and how much he wants it.

Same way I interpreted it. Honestly, would 2-3 weeks be enough?

The way he was back-pedaling on Tuesday, he might be close to playing, after all.
    (from jonathan's blog)

he's "close." how close? we don't know. it's up to rick to decide and i trust rick. rick wants tracy to play at a high level every game, not one game, then sit out the next.

all-star break is 3 months from now, that's not "close to playing."

morey has said numerous times, and jon himself, that tracy will be back AT LEAST before new year's. that's the latest he'll return.

with all that has been coming out, i'm seeing it as the timetable isn't fixed and he can be back anytime around 11/23. it depends on how hard he practices and what kidn of impression rick gets after every practice.

3 weeks is a LONG TIME.

Regaining your stamina shouldn't take much more than heavy high-altitude jogging for a week. Besides, it's not like T-Mac exerts himself on the court anyways...

    1600 post Woohoo...

Guys are going hard on McGrady. I mean his body has been through 13 years of wear n tear. Mind you he came straight out of H.S. KG is breakin down. Jermaine O'Neal is done. It happens. And Jermaine was a beast when he was younger. It happens to the best.

Feigen was joking when he wrote that line. He's referring to McGrady's "back-pedaling" when he said 11/18 was merely a "target date".

And I don't remember anyone in the organization saying that McGrady would be back before New Year's. I think Morey said Dec/Jan is likely, but there's no strict timetable.

One thing I have learned from all these back and forth drama. Tracy McGrady has pissed off Morey, Adelman, and Feigan. None of these guys want to back him up aside from some diplomatic cliche.

I think the dilemma Morey has is that he REALLY wants to get rid of TMac. BUT, he also know that from the basketball point of view, there is NOTHING out there he CAN get that would be better than TMac coming back healthy.
