"He still has a long ways to go as far as running the court and moving defensively." No, Adelman is saying that he is no where close to returning.
and at least a few weeks (2-3) is a long time from now. look, after this type of surgery, along with his mileage, there is no way he can regain that type of athleticism/quickness anymore. we can just pray he can regain back to the 07-08 season when he still had some quickness despite playing on a really bum knee also (that required the first surgery). i think tracy can do fine offensively if he played now. but we're a running team for 2/3 of the game. and tracy's stamina is still way off (hence running the court, along with the guy earlier saying he's out of breath running up and down just once). and we're going to need his defense to be much better than what it was last year. and lateral movement is key on defense, which is even harder to adjust to than compared to offense. so hopefully he'll fix that. so yes, he's a long way from being ready. but 2-3 weeks from now is a LONG time for him to get ready, esp. if he keeps working as hard as he has been.
He has a long way to go before his lateral movements etc improve good enough to play NBA level Basketball. Tracy wants to get back soon, which to me shows he is eager to get back out on the floor. It is a good thing we are letting the coaches and doctors decide when he does play. Media and posters here making a mountain out of a mole hill like you guys do with everything.
You're talking about regaining strength and speed in a knee that's had microfracture surgery and hasn't seen much action in almost 9 months. And you think 2-3 weeks is sufficient. Care to make a tipjar wager on that?
after todays game we desperately need tmac. were going to have cold droughts and thats where he comes in. the sooner the better, and healthy most importantly
Here is some "decent" news for a change.. From Feigan's blog http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2009/11/mavericks_121_rockets_103_rock.html this is a decent development.. and I just want to whack Rick Justice on his butt for coming up with that nonsense of an article yesterday..
like i said, he'll play at the end of november from what i'm reading. adelman says tracy has a long ways to go and he's right. this team is moving at a different speed on both ends of the floor. tracy doesn't just need to be able to jog up and down the floor, he needs to be able to RUN. if we were a halfcourt team, the team probably let him play already. secondly, he sees we are already struggling defensively. putting tracy out there right now will absolutely murder us even more. he wants tracy to at least be able to move well laterally. and tracy is definitely not there right now. moving forward/backward on offense is different from moving side to side on defense. thirdly, adelman made a great point that hasn't been posted yet. last year we had yao and artest (2 stars) that the team can fall back on. thus we were able to deal with tracy going in and out of the lineup. this year, we don't have that luxury. when tracy returns, HE HAS TO STAY and play at a high level. if he goes in and out of the lineup this year, he will totally destroy the team. adelman doesn't want that to happen. again, 2-3 more weeks of hard practice and he should be ready to play. he will most likely come off the bench at first for 4-5 games and they'll re-evaluate him from there. offensively, i think tracy is ready. the mavs reporters were praising how smooth tracy looked during shootaround. hell, they said tracy looked "pretty" (pause, no homo).
T-Mac targeted Nov. 18. Everyone assumed it was target for his first game. It could just have easily been a target for something else.
I believe what Rick the Ruler says when he's ready to rock upon the mike, he'll rock upon the mike, right
rick gave us more about tracy than jon/morey or anyone has in the past month. rick is the truth and he says it like is. why can't everybody be like him?
I just hope he does not hinder the improvement of Chase and Trevor. I could not care less about how many games we win. These guys need to go through this process so they can become better players for next year.
I agree.. I want Chase to play A LOT of minutes.. I want to see what he can do (apart from what we already know) and I am not too hopeful about Ariza.. he cannot be an elite offensive player without learning how to dribble.. it is too late for that.. I hope he understands his strengths and works on them.. and I also want RA to play Anders'e'n for extended minutes.. I want to know what DA has in store for us..
Yup. I agree.. Ariza just needs to cut/slash or shoot 3s.. play hard nosed defense . that's about it..
The Rockets have to answer few questions. If they don't wanna use Tracy, trade him ASAP. Easy for me.
