I've watched every game except for a few quarters. McGrady looks no different to me than last year. His shot was hot for the first two games but has been mostly off since. Honestly I don't think Yao has played his best ball. His best was when he was putting up 35/15/7 games in Nov/Dec last year, but it's hard to do that when he's standing at the elbow like a stiff; this situation has been mostly fixed, as indicated by the 4 to 1 low post to high post ratio quoted in the Chron today. It was obvious at the beginning of last year that Yao was the man, and by the end of this year barring injury it will turn out that way again. It is already beginning to turn in that direction.
took the words out of my keyboard. I like this: I saw the funkiest moment of Yao's career: a split-the-double-team, one-handed-off-the-dribble, oh-yeah-there's-some-for-you-too-Dirk, power dunk plus a foul. Accented with a fist pump, too. That's the kind of nastiness we've been waiting to see from him.
Dude looks healthy, as in he is dunking. See the fast break dunk against the Lakers. I know he has a bad back captain obvious.
, u seriously haven't seen the way he attacked the rim? his first 4 possessions v. the bobcats were ALL in the paint, including a facial attempt on okafor (would tmac last yr do that AT ALL???) right now, we're gearing the offense towards yao b/c we want yao to get more confidence and involved in the offense. he wasn't in the first 2-3 games. but this offense is more for tmac. as you notice the complains about the lack of movement => that's when we're trying to go to yao a lot. as yao gets more confidence playing in the high post and mixing it up, we'll use tmac like we did in the first few games and score 100+ more regularly. again, even u have to admit when yao is in the post, our offense look stagnant even when he scores. if we move around, we might bring other guys to yao's space and that might disrupt his rhythm. so we want to spread the floor as much as possible but that => no movement. this offense is NOWHERE near where it should be. why? tmac remains a playmaker the last few games. notice his assists have been 7+ the last few games (a noticeable difference from the first 2-3 games)
...why can't we rely on both? It's like they didn't even notice how T-Mac scored 9 straight points for us in the fourth. From down four, to up one. They were both HUGE for us. I've got no idea why there is so much focus on the one that's going to do it when we've got two.
his back will never be the same. but it's MANAGEABLE. he has taken A LOT of falls, attempts a lot of hard dunks => still looks good. that's a great sign. we all have patterson to thank for that.
By next month, he'll be back to the hot/cold shooting that we're used to seeing, in fact he is already there. His FT's are already back down to a level very close to last season (13.1% this year vs. 12.7% last year, .4 extra FT's per 100 shot attempts). Funny how you complain about me not watching the games when it's you that's watching the games with rose colored glasses. I've watched every game and I call it like it is. You could turn a 4/11 game from McGrady and make it sound positive. In contrast, I think Yao has had only one great game (SA) and several good games (Lakers, Bobcats). The other games have been mediocre or downright horrible. He needs to get back to the 35/15/7 games he was putting up in Nov/Dec last year.
Black people don't like no chinese player ballin on their court. Adande, Stephen A, that dude on espn with the bad eye Stuart Scott, they still say Shaq better than Yao!
We can rely on both. The point is that when tracy is hot, he gets the oppurtunity to take over. Yao doesn't get that chance as much. It's not a tug of war for power or whose team it is. It is strictly about winning. If yao is killing the mavs the next time we play them, I guarantee we will not squander that advantage as we did last time.
did u read what i said? him and adelman have said HE HAS SACRIFICED HIS OFFENSE to get yao and others going. that's why u see a dip in scoring. his assists have gone up. and i ask u, HAVE U SEEN TMAC RUN AROUND A SCREEN/CURL since the dallas game? no u have not and that's all u need to know. adelman has shelved many plays for tmac, knowing we need to get others on the same page. 35/15/7??? dude, he only did that for 2 games when tmac was out. he only avg 26ppg for the month where tmac was out last yr.
They got rid of the motion crap because it made Yao into a complete stiff, while McGrady still gets his touches in a "Feed Yao" offense. He got more shots than Yao in both the Milwaukee and Charlotte games. Seriously, like I said after the Dallas game, if we want McGrady to play like Kobe why the hell don't we just trade for the real article, which is better at doing that? If your defense for McGrady is "he's a better team player and distributes the ball better" then why do you want McGrady to not be a playmaker and instead score/score/score like Kobe?
So does that mean I am white now? Cuz to me Shaq now < Yao now. Overall accomplishments, it's shaq by the landslide. O yeah, and since when has Stuart Scott been black?
. it's unbelievable how u label posters when you're downright one of the worst YOH on here, talking about nobody else on the rox outside of yao (or complimenting them for that matter) and it's crazy u want yao to go 35/15/7 when he only did that twice last yr getting all the touches and WE LOST.
we're not as dominant and feared when tmac is a playmaker. nobody can put a team away on this team like tmac can. he can go on a scoring tear and just put a team's hopes away just like htat. only kobe and tmac can do that. why do u waste one of the most feared offensive players in the history of the league and make him a playmaker? and it's NOT THE SHOT ATTEMPTS dude. it's the TYPE OF SHOTS TMAC TAKES. when he moves around, it's HARDER TO KEY ON HIM. when he's a playmaker, IT'S EASIER TO KEY ON HIM.
Anyone else thinking that doublehh03 and TheSummit are the same person? Their posting style is strikingly similar.
And Yao sacrificed his offense to get McGrady going... oh wait no he didn't he had his offense taken away from him. He didn't have a choice. He was made into a stiff by Adelman's coaching, and Adelman is at least flexible enough to adjust, and now Yao is playing better. Yes, the curl to the elbow plays are still there. They're just not run as often because Yao is not at the elbow as much, thankfully. I remember last year ESPN said Yao was the first player to have two 35/15/7 games in the same season since Shaq or Olajuwon (can't remember which). At least maybe wait for a loss before complaining about lack of touches for your god?
The reason they toned down on running the motion offense is because guys looked clueless out there. The whole team looked uncomfortable against the Lakers. Nobody wants McGrady to play like Kobe. They just want to take the load off Tmac where he doesn't have to do everything in initiating the offense. They also wanted to get Tracy and the rest of these guys some easy baskets. If he doesn't have to work as hard over the 82 game season to get baskets, then he should be a tad more fresh in the playoffs.
notice u care about yao's stats and disregarded the losses it's sad when u see that. when i say tmac moves around, it does not mean he'll take more shots. i prefer him to play less minutes (33-34), shoot around 18-19, but when he moves and takes his energy away from playmaking, he's fresher down the stretch and thus at the end of the seaso ngoing into the playoffs. u do know playmaking + scoring is more tiring than just focus on scoring right? i want tmac fresh. who cares if he scores 23-24 pts. as long as he does not do as much playmaking and focus on scoring and then passing from the havoc he creates from the movement for his teammates. but oops, u want yao to put up 35/15/7
