People who says "hell no", tell at least one reason. Discuss.

In my opinion it's a great oportunity for the Rockets and SHOULD consider him for part of the MLE.

I prefer Brooks playing at center, than have Dampier.

    please explain how not.

He rebounds better, blocks shots better and is more efficient offensively - though I'd agree, not as good of a fit. His PER last year was 14.05 to Andersen's horrible 12.11. Neither should see much PT, but his "specialty" is a better fit for what the Rockets seriously need - length, rebounding and interior paint clogging defense....

I'm fine with people arguing that Miller is the better offensive player. While I think his efficiency last year was pretty bad, if it was a last shot type scenario, certainly I'd rather have Miller than Dampier.

But the Rockets don't need any more offense. The need defense and length. Neither of which really require knowing the system.

He'll probably get the MLE from someone...

    ...doubt it's the Rockets.

As long as it's a 1-year rental, I would consider. We need to get a big body...Dampier certainly has that.

I will let Morey and Adelman decide if Miller or Damp is the better option as a backup C for our team!

Coming out of my rookie exile to say YES to this if we can get him.

Morey, this is time to pounce. I know he's pricey and older, but we need a backup C who can rim block. This is it. He's going to cost money, but that's just how the market works. Bigs cost more than other players. We're not going to book one for cheap.

How so? Dampier can rebound and block shots. Something we desperately need and something Andersen cannot do.

Damp constantly looks clumsy and confused. And his offense is worse than Chuck Hayes. He would do nothing but get in Lowry's way.

Probably because he is good for nothing but taking up space. At least having Chuck will give you D down low and having B Miller will give you O all around.

    Dampier is worthless.

"HELL NO" the guy has no offensive game and is weak on defense, there is a reason why he is no longer in dallas and haywood is. B. MIller can at least shoot the ball and make them, and plays decent defense and is no pansy. Personally my choice would be shaq as the first center to grab, but looks like miller is going to be the guy and Dampier.. oh hell no !!!

But Anderson is a threat on the floor at least. Damp misses layups for chrissakes. All his blocks are cheap and from the weak side. He is NOT a defensive Center. He's a ****ing turnstile on D. I'd take Chuck a 5 anyday of the week before this fat POS.

    Who is Anderson?

    If you mean this guy:

Andersen - there is an E in his name. And, no, he is not a threat with that weak wannabe dreamshake he can't pull off.

I agree they need defense and length. But wasn't scoring at the 5 the biggest issue? Yea Yao was missing, but Yao won't be giving us more then 25 min a game. Say Damp is the backup. The bench would look like this:

    Lowry
    Budinger
    Battier
    Patterson?
    Dampier/Hill

Thats not a lot of offense right there. I think Millers offense > Damps Defense.
