He is a useful player but he isn't a good shooter and not worth a 1st round pick by any means. He is better than Bowen and I wouldn't mind getting him but certainly not for JH or a 1st round pick.
what a late first round pick? I'd rather have a proven veteran who plays with heart and passion rather than a late first round prospect... just my humble opinion.
I was praying the Rockets would sign Eric Williams in the offseason. I scratched my head when he signed with New Jersey. He's a Van Gundy type player and a great roleplayer.
Maybe we could convince Toronto that Reece Gaines is a nice prospect and try to move Gaines + Bowen for Williams. Not sure the salaries match up though so maybe we would have to include Charlie Ward in the package. And perhaps some "cash" to basically "pay off" Ward's contract to make Toronto go for the deal. I am an Eric Williams fan and think he would be a terrific addition on our bench. No question he is a JVG type player. Doesnt have that great a shot but is active and a good defensive player.
aries,I like Williams but I think the upcoming draft is a pretty deep one with 4's,1's and 3's and we could even get a good player in the late first round.
I actually feel bad for the guy. He wants to help the raptors but they aren't using him. I don't know how old he is but I am thinking if JVG doesn't want to stick his hand into the draft then we can look at him if they'll take mo taylor.
Please say no to E Williams, our team is a pretty good looking team(sans a couple of the ear people WES, SCOTTY"THE BODY") I don't want us to make the all ugly team like we did in the 90s with Kenny Smith.
According to Rotoworld.com the Knicks are looking into acquiring Eric Williams. He fits the Knicks profile: he's old, overpaid, and can't shoot. The Knicks could look to move Jerome Williams, an old fan favorite in Toronto, for him
at this point Zeke is just trading for the sake of trading... there is no improvement in that squad on the horizon
I'd like to pick him up but at the most we should do is agree to swap our 1st for their 2nd pick for a bench role player of Williams age. TE and 2nd rounder (about #52) for Williams OR Ward, Gaines and next years 1st (about #22) for EW and their 2nd (#37). Nothing more.
I would certainly do the TE + 2nd rounder for Williams. I am iffy on giving up a 1st rounder for Williams. I dont want to part with the 2005 1st rounder. But might consider a 2006 1st rounder instead of a 2005 1st rounder.
