Gordon’s contract is well worth it. I’d swap his contract for Anderson’s contract because Gordon is more deserving of a contract like Anderson’s. But if it ain’t broken....

Let's say it's debatable, but i saw him guard pretty well some 4s this season, and that's probably cause he's really strong...not saying he can do that 24/7 against guys like LMA or Millsap of course, but in a defense like our own, if there's a switch and he ends up against a big, i'm not really worried tbh.

Hell no. To have a player like Gordon at this price is incredible. His production is worth more, so we should be be dealing him unless it's in a package and we're getting back depth at guard and a star player. Which is unlikely.

Morey has always been buy low/sell high but as you approach contender status with a lot of great pieces, you revise your risk profile. You take fewer risks and trading Gordon is a risk unless it's a no-brainer.

You trade Gordon if it’s getting you a better player but you don’t trade him for reddick just because he’s a better shooter. I love JJ reddick and would love him to be a rocket but not swapped for Gordon.

Of course, I get that Gordon is perfect for our system, better than JJ Redick and his production will be back to normal. I haven't claimed anything to the contrary. Let me put in a different way, since some still have reading problems: in case Morey is presented or feels a high-profile player becomes available at the SF / PF / C position in the off-season (never said mid-season), would you agree that Gordon is probably the most likely to be moved and potentially the easiest player AT LEAST IN TERMS OF 3PT SHOOTING to be replaced, for example by a guy like JJ Redick?

    So basically....
Clutchfans would you be ok with losing Gordon for reddick and a pf/sf that will remain nameless at this time?

    Maybe

I'm reading this thread and it's like nobody even read more than two sentences of OP's post. He isn't saying JJ is better than Gordon, or 14M is too much, or that we need to get rid of him just because. But if he commands something like 20M per at end of his contract because he is more than just a shooter, and with CP3/Beard combo we might not need his playmaking skills as much, it's better to trade him in his final year for a JJ Reddick type of player with less salary to be able to offer CP3 the max or retain Capela.
OP is talking about possibilities two years from now, not this season...

Uhm ironically you got it wrong, I’m talking coming off-season. Some of your points are right though.

No, he's talking about this season and the coming offseason, specifically mentioning the possibility of Lebron coming here. If EGo were part of a SnT package for Lebron, Redick would be a prime candidate to replace him. He's not talking about JJ necessarily, just about EGo's role and contract and whether it can be an avenue to improve the team.

I love this team, but I can see anyone besides Harden and CP3 being traded for upgrades and replaced.

There's not another catch and shoot guy that comes as cheap as Gordon and can play defense and create his offense

his contract is one of the best steals

Really? Are we this bored by the Rockets winning so much that we are discussing Gordon's contract now?

Let me put it to you this way; GORDON IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

He's the best contract in the NBA for his production, period. Other teams are stuck paying guys $20-25 million for less production. Gordon is one of Morey's greatest moves.

The only time Morey would even consider moving Gordon is when packaged for a superstar like LeBron, etc.

He's not untouchable good, but I can't see any realistic trade involving him that actually makes us better this year and moving forward. It's easy to say anybody can score with Harden and CP3, but the drop off is pretty stark after Gordon when it comes to individual scoring talent. Literally the entire rest of the roster is catch and shoot/finish.

His contract is chump change by today's standards. He's not going anywhere.

There's a lot of flaws here.

If we want to sign LeBron or Paul George, we won't have the money to re-sign Capela. We don't "have to re-sign him."

Second, I'm sure there's a way Morey can open up enough space to sign LeBron and go over the cap to re-sign Chris Paul. I'm sure we'd get rid of Ryno, Tucker, let Ariza walk or re-sign him for the minimum (god willing), and a few bench scrubs to make the cap work. I'd think retaining EGo would be a big priority.

I know we usually overrate our players but EG is exactly the high reward home run that Maury was hoping for. Now way should we trade him unless part of a Lebron package

He's recovering from an injury and adjusting to being back on the bench. We all know hes much better than this mini slump he's on.

And we are winning. Gordon will step up when he is needed most.
