There's talks about Knicks willing to listen for Quickley. And Pistons listening for Saddiq Bey or Killian Hayes. Less to do with us trading with them, but more to do with other teams offering players that competes in the Gordon / KJ market. The Quickley thing could be a non-starter; as Knicks was reported of asking for a 1st rounder. On the Crowder / Saric propsoal, the only thing I'll add is suns GM and Jae are not on good terms. With Crowder throwing a tantrum about minutes; there's no guaranteed GM Jones will do Jae a solid to send him to a contender. If a team wants to shed salary or a bad team is willing to take him; he'd do it. Crowder and Saric are expiring, if these guys aren't playing here long term, what's the point of them on the roster? Unless Stone re-up their contracts, can't even use them as salary matching for a next year blockbuster trade. Is Silas really going to play them over our current young guys. Does Stone think he can do a better job to flip them? I know people want Gordon gone, but at the expense of what? KJ as a collateral? Stone saving Silas by not making Gordon an option to play? That's really dysfunctional to pay bad trade price because of minutes allocation (something already within a team's control). We gift Suns a Gordon and KJ, for two guys that we barely play? Crowder big mad that Monty don't play him enough minutes. Is he going to be happy playing small minutes behind our young guys? (or heaven forbid; Silas do play them and he chooses them over: Jabari/Sengun/Garuba/Tari/Bruno).
Rockets should offer more than just Gordon in general. Tate should be on the block, pure surplus. Shouldn't have been extended. I don't know if there's a market for Garuba, but he's an easily replaceable player type if there is. Buck's 1st should be in play also. 1 rookie next year is enough.
It would be a mistake to trade KJ Martin. He is high enrgy, dunks, blocks, can shoot the 3 and most importantly he does not try to be a hero. IMO he is a very good piece for a rebuilding young team.
Mavs (though they're breaking the Kemba glass) Bucks Heat. Clippers Lakers. Could all use Gordon. I don't see the need for the Cavs, #6 offense in the league
Trades I wish we made: Gordon to Phi with Thybulle coming back plus whatever else it would take to make it work. Trades I wish would happen now: Gordon to Mia for Duncan + Jovic. Mia doesn't do it, I believe they're really high on Jovic.
They need a wing and a tertiary play maker/ball handler. Caris Levert isn't great and you've got Dean Wade, Raul Neto, Isaac Okoro, and Cedi Osman playing more minutes than you'd ideally want. A Gordon trade enables the cavs to fortify themselves as a legit title contender by pushing more minutes to a proven veteran. He could easily play 24-28 minutes on this Cavs team.
Man, his "I don't have anything to prove" energy is killing us, and our mistake-prone journey is killing him. Just bench the guy after this road trip please. He doesn't need to be getting 30 minutes per game right now. I'd be shocked if he even wants to be out there from the way he looks.
$15.65m Thats what a team over the cap has to send out to match salary. Find us a contender who has that laying around that they would be willing to part with and that actually makes them better - and it must be a single contract because the Rockets have no open roster spots to accommodate a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 type deal. Of course you could add a second outgoing Rocket player and take back a second player allowing two contracts to reach the requirement .... but that changes the math increasing the returning cap amount by a minimum of $1.25m meaning that team would have to send out a minimum of $16.9m. Unless there is an injury to a player in the same pay range, I don't see a trade out there for EG, I think it ends up as a buyout and he's released post trade deadline. The math is just too difficult to
I doubt we'd have to send anything but a very late first rounder there rather than two picks, but I do think Quickley is a great idea. Feel like he's underrated as a complimentary piece (project). His defense and passing have stabilized a little bit and obviously anyone who plays for Thibs has deflated offensive stats.
Yeah I was thinking a couple of second rounders. Rose as a legit PG veteran presence would be another bonus for me, man has lots of character.
