Maybe you don't? At this point, he's our only seasoned vet (aside from Wall). I feel fans don't value the impact vets can have on younger players.

But then we have to give him minutes...at which point someone else has to sit.

I would have jumped on Jovic at #23
Throw in Tate or KJM for Jovic

it is what it is. stone is the asset manager. kj will be benched anyways or sent to gleague. tyty can go to gleague until trade deadline. trust me, there will be more trades, our young guys got plenty of time to prove they're worth. what they need to do is add skill and be ready when their number is called.
tate should be gone now too, i imagine. just enjoy the ride....

I don’t want to hear another report from an accredited NBA insider that Houston has 1st round pick offers on the table for Eric Gordon. It’s a freaking meme at this point.

While true, you don't think Morey would have sent us 23 for Gordon? Gordon >>> Melton.

Obviously we didn’t want a 4th pick. But we’ve had years to trade EG. It’s bad asset management. But I’ll go easy on Stone tonight since he nailed the draft.

Yes, I mean the roster will have to change. At this moment we have the following players between last and this draft:

    Sengun
    Garuba
    Christopher
    Green
    Smith
    Eaton
    Washington

Add in KPJ and presumably Diashen Nix and you have 9 players who are likely going to need court time. Washington is maybe the only player you can shelve for most of the year in the G League. Where do you find minutes for Gordon, Boban, Tate, KJ, etc.? I am fine with moving them before the season. What I don't want to see is them getting major minutes in hopes of building their value for a trade deadline deal that never happens. Seen that movie too many times with this team.

At this point I honestly think we should be trying to build this roster to start winning this season. Not saying push all chips in, but build an actual functional team to play basketball instead of blindly accumulating talent.

If Gordon wants out I would respect that, but him helping us win games the next 2 years then letting his contract expire into open cap space doesn't sound crazy to me.

A late 1st isn't so valuable that we absolutely have to get it, and unlike Wood, Gordon isn't a guy who hurts team professionalism.

who says gordon has to play a lot of him minutes before the deadline? teams know what he can do and what we want, a future 1st. he can play like 15 a game? boban is not even in the future plans or sure to make the roster. KJ is under contract for two more years, so its actually beneficial for us to just sit him this year in g leaugue so he can work on skill. he'll then be hungry for minutes when tate is moved. tate will get his minutes. he's the one we'll be showcasing along with KPJ to see if we can get future firsts. Nix is just going to have to be patient.

Wall + Gordon + All BKY picks + All rockets picks for Durant

Durant is on a 4 year deal and doesn’t have a no trade clause, trade the farm for him when he asks out

People keep bringing up Gordon as a mentor. I agree, he can do that. But, that's not the best asset management. You can get a player/mentor off the scrap heap that doesn't have a 1st rd pick value. There are even guys that are fine not playing for long stretches. Boban is a good example.
