LOL at all of you getting defensive over your precious little show. I don't care enough about this to continue. I was just making an observation that I catch this show from time to time in syndication and had never seen the character on there. When I checked IMDB, it showed he was on for a season & a half, and including the fact that he had been successful in movies, it wouldn't seem far-fetched for him to be written out of the show.

Sheesh. Why are y'all taking my comment as a personal afront?

He would have continued to be on the show had he not asked to be written out so he could go work at the White House. Since 10/2007 when he joined the cast he has been in as many episodes as Hugh Laurie. That seems to fit the mold as "series regular"

The only cast members I think are permanent to the show are House and Wilson.

All the others serve to glorify the glory that is House.

It has nothing to do with me getting defensive over House and everything to do with calling you out for your patronizing behavior when you're obviously speaking out of ignorance.

I agree that your original statement wasn't entirely far-fetched based on your limited experience, but then you choose keep posting "factoids" to try and save face. And now you've resorted to the "aww, how cute of you" attack.

    Well done.

Can someone explain to me why Dr. House is such an a-hole? Is it the leg? The meds? What happened to his leg anyway? I started watching the show late.

It's obvious Dr. House cares and covers it up with insults and by acting aloof. I guess that's what makes the show cause, if the main character is a bore, then this show is probably already cancelled. His acting drew me in to the show after I tried in vain to avoid this show.

check out late season1 and early season2, it details his bum leg and a brief love story with his ex

house knows when to be mean, and often he holds himself back, because if he wanted to hurt you, "he knows just where to poke the stick" -cuddy

He's naturally a cynical a-hole. His parents are normal. His ex said he was already that way before his leg.

Apparently he (Kal Penn) is leaving show business to work in the Obama Administration as Liaison to Asia.

Edit - just saw this posted on the 2nd page of the thread.

Wow, and congratulations; although the job seems a bit nebulous at the outset. It wouldn't suck to see him in Congress a few years hence; nice payoff for temporarily walking away from a pretty lucrative and enjoyable job. Definitely a more serious person than some of the roles he had to play. Genuinely happy for Kal Penn!

Since Obama will probably be voted out in 2012, did Penn make a good decision?

Haha. I hope this is sarcasm.

Not that I do or don't think Obama will win a second term, but how you can say "probably" is premature. And Penn is a solid actor, I'm sure he'll find more work if he needs it. ;)
