On Fox, between Malcom In The Middle and The X-Files .

I don't think this has been posted here yet. At least, I tried the "search" option for the first time and didn't come up with it.

If it has been posted already, I'll try really hard to care.

I signed up with StarWars.com to be able to d/l their last trailer and they sent me this email the other day.

STAR WARS HOMING BEACON - The Official StarWars.com Newsletter
    Thursday, 03-07-02 - Issue #55

Welcome back to the Homing Beacon, the official newsletter of
    starwars.com.

    THE NEW TRAILER
This Sunday, March 10, the public will get their first look at the full
trailer for Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones as it airs on
FOX television in America and also is posted to the Official Star Wars
website, starwars.com. The trailer will begin playing theatrically on
March 15, exclusively with the animated feature Ice Age, and other
    films thereafter.

"With this trailer, we start to look at the story and the state of the
galaxy in Episode II," says Lucasfilm's VP of Marketing, Jim Ward. "It
sets the stage for what's about to happen and how the characters are
involved. We find out that the Republic is on the brink of war, and the
Jedi are overburdened in trying to hold everything together."

The two-and-a-half minute trailer culminates with glimpses of some of
the largest action sequences ever found in a Star Wars movie. Entitled
"Clone War," this trailer begins to lift the veils of secrecy
surrounding the mysterious Clone Wars first mentioned -- but never
elaborated upon -- in the original A New Hope in 1977.

"In Episode II, we're going to see the Jedi in action like we've never
seen them before," says Ward. "We're going to see hundreds of Jedi,
hundreds of lightsabers, thousands of clones, in a huge battle. The
trailer gives just a hint of what's to come."

The trailer airs on FOX this Sunday between original episodes of
"Malcolm in the Middle" (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) and "The X-Files"
    (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

It wasn't all that impressive on tv. I'll bet it looks 100% better in a theater with their specialized sound systems, stadium seats, and giant screens.

i saw the trailer on Saturday night in the theatre. it was ok, but much of it was spent with natalie portman and whoever it is playing anakin in a field of flowers on a picnic etc.-prepare for a big love story is what it looked like.

I thought the trailer sucked. A bunch of special effect-filled shots and no discernible story, which does not bode well for the movie. Plus all the backgrounds are now digitally done - it looks like a ****ing cartoon.

    HayesStreet,

The trailer you saw was the older one, the one emphasizing the tepid "love story." (The new trailer that debuted last night will be in theaters showing "Ice Age," which debuts next week, I think.)

Now if they get Natalie Portman ass-up and buck-nekked and an R rating, I'll be there on opening day! But, alas, this movie's primarily for the kiddies.

This won't read as funny as the live-action moment, but when I saw the original trailer in the theater, people around me were groaning at George Lucas' recognizably horrid dialogue.

Queen Amidala (seeing Anakin again after years): Anni? My, you've grown.

Anakin: You've grown, too. (pause) Grown more beautiful, that is.

The guy behind me said this in two fake sneezes: Bad line! (pause) Bad line!

I know, you had to be there, but two rows of people were laughing, like five years ago, seeing the Special Edition of Star Wars and the entire audience cracking up at Luke's first whiny words: "But I wanted to go down to Haji Station to get the new power converters." (something like that)

OK, now that this post is too long, I'll just add: Harrison Ford once explained his dislike of George Lucas' dialogue on either Leno or Letterman. During filming of "Empire Strikes Back," Ford was holding his script and said to Lucas, "George, you can write this s**t, but you sure can't say it."

So I guess we can expect more of the same. Great effects, mediocre script, bad dialogue, worse acting, and $400,000,000 domestic gross.

It's sci-fi melodrama, always has been.

    I'll be there. :D

Besides, I can't hold it against Lucas for being no Lord of the Rings............ ;)

Star Wars is a Soap in Space when you think about it. You almost have to expect lines like that. It bothers me a little, but the kids love it and you almost have to expect it.

I am glad to see that Anakin is going to have a little bit of attitude in this movie. In Episode 1, Qai-Gon and Obi Wan got along so well it made me want to puke.

Hopefully, in this movie, they give some (ANY) indication that Anakin has the kind of evil in him that will kill hundreds and thousands of people. The sweet little kid from Episode 1 just didn't do it to me, they needed to show some kind of dark side for me to believe that that little squirt was going to some day be Darth Vader.

I was a little unhappy with Episode 1: But I figured as the plot got more involved the later installments would improve. Still, I wasn't sure about Episode 2.

But wow. That was a strong trailer. So far everything looks good.
