We already have 500 pages to argue the racism aspect of the case. Leave that there. This is about the two men and their stories. It's all pretty sad from whatever angle you look at it.

The guy who got jumped is obviously lying, although you have to feel bad for him as he got what he asked for, and will never live it down. He handled the interview in practically the best way possible for someone in his position, save for not admitting his obvious connection with the videographer and the theft.

Vietnam Tom. Man has that guy had one rough ride. For some reason (maybe its because he repeats everything twice or because we've heard him tell the same story multiple times with pinpoint consistency and accuracy), he comes off as extremely genuine to me, I may be a fool but I believe everything he said, and that makes for one hell of a sad story. Mom put him in the oven, dad beat him, fighting with everyone and everything. I'm not defending his spit shine joke, but he's a hero to me just for being so honest, and sticking to his guns through all that he's been through. He's doing the only thing he knows how to; to be his resilient, survivor self and while it may be abrasive and antagonistic, he is not malicious, pompous or discriminatory. EBM is a hero, but not for beating up the epic black man.

I wanted to ask people if they believed in the Ed Gein part. He said he was next door to Ed Gein in a mental institution and Tom is from Wisconsin, but that just seem odd too believe. But if that's true, damn that man is a certified crazy badass. Sad story though.

Both guys embellish the truth a bit.

The sensitivity of people to harmless comments prevents simple conversation and interaction between races, sad to say. Better to just wear blue tights and earphones and ignore the world and everyone in it. :p

It's like saying to a hispanic, "my boy here is going to mow my lawn." I guess it's more stereotypical but I would consider it racist none the less.
