Luther may be on the roster, but if we add a petrius, barnes, posey type, I would think that Tmac, Battier and the new wing player would command all but 5 minutes of the playing time at SG and SF. Luther needs to be a situational player, and preferably not at all.

If we want to play a small lineup, I'd much rather play bjax and alston/brooks than play head.

Regarding Donte Green, what I meant is that he isn't intended to play he role of 3rd wing player for 20-25 mpg this year. My hope is that he show enough to kick Novak to the curb sometime this year, hopefully out of training camp. But the idea to the pick is that he can take on a 3rd wing spot late this year or year 2, and take the starting SF spot late yr 2 or early yr 3. i think that's when tmac's conract is up, and then we need someone with enough athleticism and talent to fill in as a 2nd or 3rd best player, which is the idea with taking a flier on Green.

Re CDR, he would be better this year possibly and possibly get some minutes, but certinly not outperform a marginal veteral wing player.

I like Petrius and Barnes for 20-25mpg, but sounds like you don't. Do you have any thoughts on who we might add at the wing?

I need to think about the backup PG situation. I don't know what it takes to bring in a chucky atkins/earl watson level backup, but that's kind of what I have in mind. I'd think they are better than Brooks and BJax, and could spell Rafer. Any ideas on suitable backup PG targets? I'm not a Udrich fan.

You guys thinking Greene can Kick Novak to the curb need to realize they were drafted at nearly the same point in the draft.

And, Greene was NOT a good shooter at Syracuse.....whereas Novak was an amazing shooter.

If Greene does not improve on .418 shooting (I hope he will), he will be out of the league soon.

Many people expecting Novak to be kicked to the curb not for his college FG%. We already know what to expect from Novak. With Greene, there is a fresh slate.

I think what Morey is doing is pure genius and he has put himself in a position to be able to make deals that he wouldn't have made prior to the draft by picking up Dorsey. I wasn't a fan of the pick at first, but it makes so much sense the more I think about it. Teams covet Scola and Landry(not advocating trading either of these guys by the way, but they have value) and would probably give you something good for them, but no way in hell you move either of those guys prior to this draft. Even moving Hayes would have been a concern when you're a little unsure about Landry's knee stability. That all changed on Thursday.

Morey and Adelman determined that there weren't any quality big guards who could come in right away and be that 3rd scorer so many were clamoring for(as Morey repeatedly stated on local sports radio stations that CDR was not a good fit for Adelman's offense and was a poor shooter outside of 15 feet and name one other notable guard that went after we selected that would fit that description...I can't think of any because guys like that always go at the top of the draft) so with no other options, they drafted who they determined to be the best available in what they were trying to do with the team and then will look to free agency and using what we have on the roster to explore trades to get that swingman we so desperately want and need. Sounds like a smart plan to me. Much smarter than picking up a fringe NBA player with that pick.

So here we are, maybe a little overstocked at PF, but now that we have several serviceable players there, when it comes time to make deals, we not only have guys that are attractive to other teams, but now we can make a trade from our position of strength if the right one presents itself, get a quality player back and not suffer a crippling Ryan Bowenesque dropoff in production. I like it.
