great, so now we know why he's sucked since june 9, the date of the injury; what's the excuse for his awful performance in may and the first week of june?

sorry, but i'm growing tired on ensberg being hurt; even more tiresome: why does he hide it and/or the astros ignore it? this marks the third consecutive year he played hurt and neither he nor the team did anything about for too long a stretch.

Good to see Luke back, he missed being the hero in the against the Braves in the playoffs by inches. I saw him last year in Round Rock and he hustled on and off the field, I like that.

No sh*t. I'm pissed off at Morgan. He shouldn't have been playing with an injured shoulder. He was obviously hiding it and trying to play through it. But, in the end, he hurt the team and probably caused a few losses along the way.

Who would win in a fight. Luke Scott or Chuck Norris?

How do you feel about Pettitte or Lidge?

Why is Ensberg the #1 scapegoat around here, it's pathetic.

Oh, and it may not be the smartest thing to play hurt, but I appreciate the dedication and toughness.

i feel their performances have nothing to do with ensberg's performance.

oh, please; give it a rest. this is the third time in three years he's pulled this ****, covertly playing hurt to the detriment of the team. it's getting old. he's brittle, stubborn and apparently has no feel for his own body. what's frustrating about it is, fine, go out and see if it can work itself back into shape in a week or so. if not, then get help now, rather than later (like pettitte did in '04; even like bagwell eventually did last year).

what if he's done further damage to it and now could be out much longer than had he addressed it initially? what if he could have addressed it and gotten back sooner; could we have maybe won more games down the first half stretch? that's dedication? that's helping the team?

he's now five weeks behind in his rehabilitation.

Ensberg is a dishonest turd. He was thinking of himself first and not his team.

Remember, it's not the name on the back that matters...it's the name on the front!! I know...soooo cliche!!!!

    Agreed, to a point.

He walked into Phil Garner's office before the game and admitted his right shoulder had been killing him.

He was placed on the 15-day disabled list after the game.

    No relief in sight

Ensberg did this only after trying everything else. He had taken one anti-inflammatory injection in the front of the shoulder and another in the back.

He had been on daily medication for almost a month.

Until Thursday, he had refused to acknowledge the pain. He had said players are never completely healthy during a season. He pushed on even when it was clear something was wrong.

"To not go out there when my team is struggling, I just didn't feel I could do that," he said. "I can look back on it now and realize I was hurt. I had some clarity about that during the (All-Star) break. When you're going through a season, you're just trying to play every day.

"You never feel great, so you keep going. I just couldn't do the things I normally do."

He'd done the same thing in 2004 and vowed he wouldn't make the same mistake twice. He lied.

"This was just like 2004," he said.

Hopefully he's learned something *this time*...

"I was seeing the ball great. My mechanics were fine. I just couldn't get the bat into the hitting zone quickly enough."

Hence the "Land of a Thousand Stances" routine.

I hope he gets some PT to prove himself, he has some significant pop in his bat...but I don't think Luke gets off the bench except for the occasional Sunday start.

how is it a dodge? they're independent of one another. or do you think we should cut ensberg slack for underperforming thus far because other teammates have also underperformed?

nobody has made ensberg the scapegoat; he was a big reason why they started hot; he's a big reason why they've cooled off since.

    Did I say otherwise?

You have an enormous chubby for dissing Ensberg's slump, why not anybody else? I guess you must have taken him early on your fantasy team or something.

You're absurd and know as much about baseball as you do about football.

    then what's your point?

uhm.... i'm thinking the thread's subject matter is ringing on line 2 of your clue phone - might want to pick it up.

but the difference in pettitte and lidge and ensberg is, imo, two-fold: 1) lidge and pettitte, especially, have a much longer, much better track record of success thans ensberg; 2) neither played five weeks of the season hurt and failed to tell anyone; nor has such action now spread to a third consecutive year.

    (don't play fantasy baseball, btw)

but my VORP (value of replacement poster) is still third-best among houston-based internet sites, rendering my actual knowledge of both football and baseball irrelevant.

This is a good thing, but the injury excuse...It took him a month to decide, oh, that's why I suck...
