you spend a #1 pick on the guy you want on the field in the most crucial situations, though.

Also the play-action call on second down was a horrible call.

Who would you rather have as the face of the TEXANS organization?

a guy who wears "619" under his eyes?

or arguably the greatest HOUSTON born athlete of all time?

Leinart had been razor sharp all 2nd half and the fullback had been open all day. The 4th down call was correct as well, White I think had never made less than 2 yards all game. You keep in Bush and you remove a blocker for White on the set and interior run that had never been stopped (not just this game, but all season in fact).

They were the right calls, it was about Leinart's only mistake of the 2nd half (poor throw ont he 2nd down play) and the 4th down just didn't work out by 6 inches.

Vince Young has had an incredible career, but lets hold off on comments like these until he actually does something on the professional level. You have players like Carl Lewis, Hakeem, Clyde, Eric Dickerson that should all be thought of in this light, not Young..........not yet at least.

that is what the term "arguably" implies. and it very much applies to this argument. Hakeem was not born here, but IMO he is without a doubt THE GREATEST HOUSTONIAN EVER. LONG LIVE THE DREAM!!!!!

Comparing styles is fine. Saying he's the greatest Houston athlete of all time is going a little far. I've seen Young compared to Elway and Montana quite often here.

If you have a problem with comparing VY to Montana and Elway, but not comparing Bush to Sayers, you're a hypocrite.

    How about Mary Lou Retton?

Of course, she wasn't left off the mat when we needed a good score for the Gold in 1984, ala Bush in the Rose Bowl.

And the Rockets passed Drexler for Rodney McCray
And the Astros waited until the twilight to go after Roger Clemens and when they finally signed him......

i think you can make a convincing argument for lewis.

but you can't for clemens and drexler. clemens was behind Swindell as a pitcher in college. did drexler put his team on his back and win a national championship?? did he account for roughly 80% of the offensive output?

i love both of those guys...but it doesn't get much bigger...at this stage of his career...than what Vince has done.

Well.......I'll take the second greatest HOUSTON born athlete(in your opinion) over a guy that wears "619" under his eyes, to represent a HOUSTON franchise.

I'd still have a few more ahead of him. Josh Beckett was 22 or 23 when he won a World Championship. There are plenty more, but you have to take off the orange colored glasses to see them.
